well, compressors are only as noisy as their engines when pumping air into the tank...that is the only time they are noisy (unless you mean the air escaping the hose when you are using it, in which case, all compressors have that...thats just due to pressure...but whatever...) But yea, when it is running, filling the tank up with air, it is loud, well, all compressors are loud, but it is only for the time until they are filled which is like a minute or so...I mean, it's probably no louder decibel wise than a lawn mower...

compressors are also good for painting...though while you may not paint, my dad paints a lot...like he just bought some wooden chairs and benches for the back yard, bought a bucket of finish, and sprayed them...took no time at all....painted my truck using it, painted my sister's armoire using it, painted a bunch of stuff using it...great for filling up tires, great for annoying the dog, great for getting water out of those hard to reach spots when washing your car, great to just mess around with and spray your skin with it and watch all the pressure make dents and ripples and whatnot in your skin and yea...compressors are fun...except when the pressur goes low and it turns on automatically to refill the pressure, but you are right above the garage and the compressor is right underneath your room basically and that's not fun when it wakes you up at like early in the morning when I'm still sleeping...

I was thinking about buying THIS COMPRESSOR:
http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr...=TOOL I've never owned (or used) power tools before, but I want some for my garage damnit. Problem is, they're loud as HELL! Question I have is, a.) Is the compressor only loud when it is stuffing the tank with air?, b.) Is this Sears compressor any good? I read some online reviews at one of those consumer review sites, and it was getting dogged for being too noisy. But I have yet to find a home compressor that isn't noisy. The Craftsman Professional equivalent to that same compressor I linked here is quieter, but also costs $110 more without the included tools. Any recommendations? This seems like the best NEW compressor option I can come up with at that price. ![]() |
