What are councils? We have city councils here but they are borderline useless.

Ah that makes sense. Whenever you guys talk about them you always make them seem much more "involved" then our city councils, equally as inept it would seem in some cases.

Yup, usually seem to be full of incompetent 'people' more interested in personal empire building and screwing each other over than actually trying to be productive towards getting things done.

After today i cant wait for my licence to come, it cant come quick enough!
I got to my 'current place of work' and just been told end of the week im out!
I still got a couple of weeks to go and now will have to look for a short stint some where?
The rough part of it is both me and the other guy are family men who have families to feedand they know it?

So i need this piece of paper badly now.

So am i, but the checks were completed weeks ago.
This is just stupidity.

What makes me laugh is that joe public who dont like tattoos will try to create as many barriers as possible to opening a business.
Irony in national papers today theres an article about these fish spas possibly passing infections? And no one thought of a risk assessment?
Thats fine though!

Default And the UK wonders why its in such a state?
Economicly we aint doing great, but seriously you have to question why when you start to experience things like what i will explain?

Firstly i want to open a Tattoo studio, i understand that you shouldnt just let people open the doors and start trading? There should be systems and regulations in place?

But this is taking the piss-

* I had them sit on the fence for 17 months debating should i sound proof the building?
One of the terms and conditions was i had to sound proof the building so i dont disturb my residential neighbours- there are no residential neighbours!
So i get the noise abaitment officer down to get a decibel reading, he says its pointless i dont need it.
The 'expert' had stated i dont need such but that was not good enough for planning!

17 months later they decide to listen the expert.

* I made appointments for EHO to liaise so we can comply with local legistlation, they council, dont show etc.

Eventually i get someone to show who then gives me the info required (great![thumbup]) but then proceeds to explain they are moving offices and all applications will be slowed by @2 weeks (takes them on average 6 weeks to do this).

* Friday i got a letter stating that they want council/ business rates from me, there was a legislation passed that states even if a business is not trading they must pay the tax!

WTF is wrong with people? Dont they want to help you open the door and get the money through to help contribute the the local economy and state economy?

This @ £555 per month i have to pay as well.

Yea, it's hardly surprising that most small businesses fail within the first 5 years. It feels like no one is actually interested in helping you, all they seem to want to do is add obstacle after obstacle for you to surmount. Anyway, good luck with your venture and post up some examples of your work when you have time, i'd be interested to see them. [yes]

Bureaucrats and jobsworth departments and positions.

Though if you had a solicitor or accountant to write on your behalf, I'm certain it would have taken far quicker than 17 months.

When I was living out there, I was amazed how much one can have without ever needing to work. Over here we have "assistance" but you need a job, they wont pay all of it or even close - there my ex had never worked a day in her life, all she did was go to the job center every few weeks.

WTF is wrong with people? Dont they want to help you open the door and get the money through to help contribute the the local economy and state economy? you really get the impression they dont.

its like they have scores and scores of retarded hoops you have to jump through, so the entire fail process can slowly grind through to a conclusion. theres no intelligence there, its like dealing with something malicious that wants you to fail at times.

don't get me started about them losing paperwork either. seriously get into the habit of taking any documents to them in person and getting them to sign them (and sign a photocopy you keep as well). i hate dealing with the council. its like a lottery whether they can even find your details most of the time.
