Default Premium outlets?
Can anyone from the US tell me if there is actually much of a saving to be had in the premium outlet stores? Let's say something costs $100 in a downtown area, how much will be saved by going to an outlet?

I usually find them to be hit or miss. Some outlet stores provide great savings especially for items out of season; there are ones however that merely use "Outlet" to get people into the stores.

The ones I am thinking of specifically are the Las Vegas Premium Outlets. I'm thinking that what I save by going there will be eaten up by cab fares there and back.

A quick look at their website showed some pretty good sales. No idea what you are looking for though.

I remember seeing a news story about whether outlet malls are really a bargain. Part of the reason they tend to be out in the middle of nowhere is because people are actually more likely to spend more money just to make the trip worthwhile, even though it may not be much of a bargain in the end, because after all you've already spent however much money in gas, or cab fares in your case.

Interestingly, I Googled for outlet mall ripoff and this is the first result that came up : How Outlet Malls Rip Us Off. It even talks about the Las Vegas Premium Outlets!
