I'm going on Holiday!
I've just booked a room for 3 nights at the Dean Court Hotel in York! It's my first lone holiday and now I'm really looking forward to it! [thumbup]
Now all I need to do is book some train tickets. [yes] |

Edit: Also, as DM said, it's generally cheaper to book in advance. |
I couldn't go on holiday on my own, I'd be bored in an hour. Wish I could as I always want to go places but my mates just like drinking.

Going about on your own allows you to see places you normally wouldn't and, from my experience, gets you lost less often.

I think you'll like York. Looks a nice hotel too. It's a good train route, but definitely book.

I know i've been funny with you in the past, all I have to say is goodluck and have a great time.[thumbup]

Defiantly if you are complete loner and didn't talk or hang out anyone for a month... that would be very depressing. It's defiantly the best way to go see things you want to see. Usually even the most like minded friend will still hold you back from doing something you wanted to do, or make you do something you didn't want to do. I speak from experience. |
You go for it hope you ave a good time .Lots to do and see at York

I got back home today. The hotel was lovely! The room was nice, but small (it was only a single), and there was a choice of cooked breakfast cooked to order (I had Eggs Benedict one day), in the restaurant with windows looking onto York Minster. I didn't get a chance to do everything I wanted, so I might go back...I've just got to work out if there is enough extra to do to justify another visit.
BTW it was a good job I booked the train ticket in advance, not only was it cheaper anyway, but the train going was very busy (I've later found out that is probably because there is only one train on that route a day); lots of seats were reserved. Two things marred the outward journey though: one, the train into London got stuck for about 20 minutes because of a points failure (made me feel lucky I'd caught an earlier train), and secondly some woman brought a noisy toddler into what was supposed to be the "quiet carriage". The journey home was fine though, the train was considerably less busy. |
Good to hear you had a good trip, manage to work up a tan?
