My house was built in the 70's, it doesnt have great insulation but roughly

Gas - £25 a month
Electric - £30 a month

Roughly. it can go up and down. Although, we got rid of our old cooker that was a power hog, hopefully will see the Electric bill go down this quarter, and Gas should be minimal since Heating hasn't been on since March. Just heat the water for 30mins a day

I pay approximately $20 a month for my apartment. A bit more in the winter. Of all the things in the world that are extremely expensive in Vancouver, at least electricity isn't one.

Over here we have the most expensive kw/h in the WORLD. I am talking 45c + a "fuel surcharge" which can add like another 20c to the cost. I would really love to get another 480 for SLI, but I am terrified about the higher running costs lol...

Average house with ac is about 1000-1200 a month, I only use a window unit so it only spikes for a few months of the year.
Damn dude, how do you guys even make power? Diesel generators?

Well,

1: I rent.
And it sounds like you need to move.

Ooo nice [thumbup]

Although 500 dollars a month is alot. Suddenly the "save on your energy bill" ads start to make sense lol.
Funny my mum is having her house isolated for around 15000 euros iirc, and I don't think her power bill is anywhere near a 100 euros a month.
Women and math..

$500/mo [shocked][shocked][shocked]

Mine averages at about $125-$150/mo half the year, then $80-100 on the other half (mostly around october to march), which IMO is really damn expensive given the size of our house (hint: really, really reallt tiny).

You, Mr. Conservative, encouraging an admittedly wealthy man to use federal funds to insulate his house. Nice.
Well, I'm no Mr. Conservative I admit. I don't always turn the light out when I leave the room.

We avereage about £90 a month for gas+electric, my computers on pretty much all the time and we have alot of reptiles.
We have recetly just changed our supplier so we are going to pay a little less per unit and price locked so we wont be affected by price hikes.

Wow, just wow! Is that in USD? What is the average income on Bermuda? Must be a fortune!

Edit: We pay 60€ / month for a 2 bedroom apartment.

Averages out to around $85 a month. Pretty hot here in the summer so sometimes it'll reach $100. Winters are around $65 or so but we heat our house via kerosene.

EDIT: This is for a 3 bedroom house.

Yeah it's equal to USD. Bermuda is a very expensive place to live I must agree, fortunately for me my parents own the apartment I am renting so I get a nice break, I don't have a pool and I dont use any incandescent lamps, and I have timers on the water heaters etc. For my small apartment I pay about 300 a month for electric.

Now when your talking about a full size house with central ac, that can triple easy, and dont get me started on pool pumps running 12+ hours a day. I work in the electrical field as my day job and I guess I am a bit of a power cheapskate cause we only have one utility company here and its a huge monopoly. The fuel surcharge was supposed to keep thier profits up with the cost of oil etc, making us pay for the market cost increases.

I would say an average Bermudian's income would be anywhere from 700-1200 a week, about the cost of a hotel here for you tourists for 3 days

I see your view.... and raise you...

...and for that, it's about $358 per quarter for the electricity bill. It's mostly goes towards computer equipment, and probably the clothes dryer mostly.
