WTF are you doing? Mine floats around $100 on a budget plan, and I am not shy with AC use.

casinochniks 07-20-2011 05:15 AM

$50/mo

This should be renamed the "Brag about being ripped off" thead.

I got a gas bill for a grand once. Lived in a georgian flat and had to have all the heating on full all winter. Would have been warmer to have burned the grand.

jakitula 07-20-2011 05:24 AM

around 80$ a month, benefits of a small house :)

My power bill when I was living in GA and needed the AC running all the time (in a not well insulated house) would average around $300/mo.

Now my power bill is around $40-60 a month depending on how much I am home and even with fairly heavy usage on the weekends with my gear running.

PickEmUp 07-20-2011 05:35 AM

My goddamn house is 60 years old and has pretty much zero insulation. There has to be an energy leak somewhere.

Singukil 07-20-2011 05:44 AM

Last month it was $55. Sweet deal.http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...lies/cool1.gif

This month it'll probably be twice as much with the air conditioner on all the time.

Is your AC having to run almost all the time to keep it cool? That is where that monstrous bill is coming from, if that is the case.

Poreponko 07-20-2011 06:03 AM

The bill here is around $250/m. The house is over 100 years old though. Logging era home FTL.

Yea pretty much. I turned it up to about 76, and I have a separate free-standing one in my bedroom that pretty much runs constantly when I'm in it. The price you pay to live in Florida http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...ies/laugh1.gif

blankostaroe 07-20-2011 06:14 AM

around $28 [yes]

How is that possible?

Should check to see if it is still going on. Federal Government Stimulus money was funding states to put insulation in houses for free if you meet the requirements.
To me it sounds like you do.

Around here, some 2,000 houses iirc got insulated for free by the Feds.

My bill here is roughly $75/mo.

You, Mr. Conservative, encouraging an admittedly wealthy man to use federal funds to insulate his house. Nice.

It's only because he doesn't know any better. Give him a break.

Over here we have the most expensive kw/h in the WORLD. I am talking 45c + a "fuel surcharge" which can add like another 20c to the cost. I would really love to get another 480 for SLI, but I am terrified about the higher running costs lol...

Average house with ac is about 1000-1200 a month, I only use a window unit so it only spikes for a few months of the year.

QqJamxqP 07-20-2011 05:17 PM

This house is 150 years old. It's central heating burns oil at an incredible rate. Electricity on top of that, no idea of cost of it all.
