Default News of the World Phone Hacking Scandel
Not only the parents of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, and Milly Dowler and her parents, now it seems they hacked the phone of a 7/7 family. Unbelievable! [rolleyes]

Advertisers look ready to drop the NotW like the plague; Ford has already done so.

I haven't really followed this but when people say "hacking", is that just calling the external voicemail number and then simply being able to listen to whats on it because nobody passwords it?

Yep, saying 'hacking' is typical journo bollocks.. Doesn't make it OK though.

Well in that case, while it's quite distasteful, I'm not surprised in the slightest and I'm sure its been going on everywhere for years by every paper/news outlet.

If you are trying to gather information of course you are going to go to the easiest to access places first.

Ironic that it comes from Sky News since they're almost a subsidiary. At least until Murdock takes over BskyB.

Best one I heard about it so far...

'When lining a litter tray with newspaper, be careful or you might accidentally get some News Of The World on the cat ****'

I think you will find that the NOTW was decided to be the hanging man in order to cover up the rest of the tabloid press.

Maybe true. Hacking dead soldiers families though as well. It's all very classy stuff. NotW or The Mirror, I don't care, I'd like to see one die.

I'd like to see charges brought against the management who made the calls to do this and/or knew about it and did nothing to stop it.
When they start doing and risking jailtime, things will change.

quite simply - who changes the default `pin` for voicemail? thats how they did it - and used facebook etc to get mobile numbers - apparantly it wasnt hard at all ;

and the BS about the chief exec - ofc she knew about it.

she needs to be in prison.

Apparently the networks scrapped default PINs years ago; the trouble is people use easily guessable numbers for their PIN, like their DOB.

As for the NotW, I wouldn't care if this brought them down. The paper is a piece of **** and I wouldn't wipe my backside with it.

Well bugger me, I wasn't expecting that! Must be a lot more underneath it all than is currently in the public domain and Murdoch wants it out the way ASAP.
