Default What GPU landed you on this forum
Mine, I think at the time was a Geforce 2MX

I "got in to it" GPU wise with a Voodoo 3 (clocked to I think 183mhz) I cant remember it was a long time ago, then jumped into a ATI 8500 volt modded and clocked to god knows what.

So...

What did you start with?

How did you end up here?

What did you jump to within 10secs of been here?

I bought a voodoo3 3000 pci from some one on ebay and it came with a disc that had 2k on it. Back then this place was madonion and the forum was GamersHQ.

2k was always the best OS at that point, it was madonion when I started no idea if the forums was gamersHQ just always saw it as madonion.

I remember... hoping I am not as drunk as I feel I know 3dmark2001 but I am sure I started which sounds stupid now with 3dmark something before that 3dmk99 dam I cant remember!

I know either way I started out with something before 3mark01 didn't join the forums for years and joined in around the 3dmark01 time frame.

I held an S3 Virge 4MB from 1998, but I didn't realize it couldn't do anything until I joined MadOnion in 2000. Looking back through my receipts, I see that I bought my TNT2 Pro 32MB on August 26 2000 for $139. [thumbup]

"WHY CAN'T I DO DIRECTX 8 TESTS, WAAAHHHHH"

I quickly saved up for a GF4 TI, and my life began to improve from there. Thanks Onions!

In mid 2000, I'm sure it was my NVIDIA TNT2 32MB Model 64 AGP and running 3DMark2000 and reading up on why it was performing so poorly.

In seconds with a dial-up connection I found out that it was an inferior card to the TNT2 Pro and the TNT2 Ultra, and that Christmas 2000 before making my account here at MadOnion.com GamersHQ considering the advice of fellow forum goers I switched to ATI Radeon 64MB DDR and I was one of the first in my area with a DVD-ROM with TV-out, and it played a great game of Unreal Tournament and Deus Ex. [thumbup]

It was a different world then.

Running 3DMark01 out of curiosity to see how good my awesome computer was.

Wondered why I couldn't run the Nature test on my GF2 MX400, reading around and realizing it was missing a ton of features. "Upgraded" to a Radeon 9000, could run all the tests! [thumbup]

Score was terrible, after awhile upgraded to 9800 Pro.

Could run all the tests with about 10x the speed [thumbup]

3DMark03 came out, test ran like crap on 9800 pro........and it begins.

I bought a Ti4200 from ebay and the seller included a copy of 3Dmark2001. I was hooked ever since. Though this forum has changed a lot since then

Hard to remember because I was still young back then probably the geforce 2 gts.

Lol used to spend hours in the local computer shop which had the computers running 3dmark2000 demos. I just couldn't get enough of it!

Was only allowed 30 mins on the computer a day at home, so I didn't spend a lot of time there
Good times.

Hehe just remembered I thought the Anti Alias settings meant the AGP speed (as in 2x 4x etc.) so I turned it up to the maximum, and thought it was just my imagination that UT didn't run as smoothly as it should. Took me a couple of years to figure that out, good thing I forgot to set it after each driver update [rofl]

My first card that got me to this site was the SiS 6326 4MB 2x AGP. I remember it running Quake 2 abysmally.
