Join the Galaxy S club, I love my phone (though I'd only get it if you're comfortable with flashing custom ROMs as that's where the phone really shines). Are you with Bell? If you are, you can also consider the Atrix.

My vote goes to the Galaxy S II or wait on the iPhone 5.

I am very tempted to get a Galaxy S II, I just have so many iOS apps that I would not want to lose but I could at least get by using them on my iPad. I am heavily considering getting the Galaxy S II myself as I want to change providers anyway and I want to hop onto another carrier so I can be grandfathered into unlimited data, with LTE as well.

You can bet the iPhone 5 will use the A5 chip and the performance leap the iPad 1 to the 2 was substantial and it will be one screamer of a phone, it is just a ways out.

i'm with rogers so HTC is not even an option for me... tho i don't have to renew my contract with them. probably if i were to call bell they would offer me a phone as well.
