Great, fantastic view you have there of people who prefer different things to you.
However, at the end of the day it does come down to user preference. I am the type of person that enjoys the more "open" type of software/hardware: PC over Mac, Windows over OSX, Android over Iphone etc etc. I like to customize my OWN UI and set the phone up how I want it from top to bottom. Took me about 4 hours when I got my Tbolt.
Guessing you didnt read my entire post. The part you quoted was just a small part of my post and was more toungue in cheek than anything.

HTC Thunderbolt 4g here. Tried the Iphones, Windows phone 7, but quite honestly for ME, this phone was by far the fastest, most customizable and "slick." I havent messed with too many other androids, but any iphone compared to a Tbolt, youd have to be mentally challenged to think the UI on the iphone was better....

I think your issues with your phone are due to the specific handset you got and whatever crapware they installed on it. Its apparent that when Android is put onto proper hardware it far exceeds its competition. However, at the end of the day it does come down to user preference. I am the type of person that enjoys the more "open" type of software/hardware: PC over Mac, Windows over OSX, Android over Iphone etc etc. I like to customize my OWN UI and set the phone up how I want it from top to bottom. Took me about 4 hours when I got my Tbolt, but after that the phone responds instantly to all user interactions, it looks fanatstic and the internet speed is unbelievable.
And you'd have to be mentally challenged to think that the thunderbolt is stock Android.

It's not worth discussing this with you as I can tell from your post that the idea of an objective review is alien to you.

Never said it was stock android, just that out of the box it does all of the things I listed...

Its not worth discussing with me? Because I have an opinion? Objective review is alien to me?

Both you and Jedidiah need to re-read my post. Sometimes people can be proud creatures and it should be "seen through" to get to thier true point. Ill help you out, even though you guys obv dont respect my opinions yet demand that yours be respected:

I like HTC Thunderbolt, its goodz. I do not prefer the Iphone or Windows phone 7, to ME the Thunderboltz is moar betterz. But please gets whatever phones you like the best.

There you go, a completely non-offensive, indifferent post that gives you what YOU want. Never mind the fact that it doesnt really say anything about my real opinions or thoughts on the different phone OS'es out there.

EDIT: Re-read your first post, to some it might seem that YOU cant objectively review anything when you said that its obvious why everyone wants an Iphone, all based on your very short experience with Android OS on a phone that havent even spent enough time tweaking/optimizing to run the way that you want it. So dont go self-righteous on me and my opinions(even if parts of it were proud/tounge-in-cheek) when you youself posted biast remarks.

You're a very angry man.

I was doing a comparison of my first few hours with Android compared to my first few hours when I got an iPhone and it's obvious that the iPhone makes a better first impression.

How did you draw that conclusion from the OP? Are you sure you're not mentally challenged?

in my opinion this is how it works.

Non-technical user:
Uses iPhone first

Picks up Android handset second... Not impressed, wants iPhone back, doesnt want to relearn how to navigate/use apps, doesnt want to customize, hates crashes, misses iTunes integration, misses app store, and misses fluidity of iOS (Compared to Stock Android).

Technical user:
Uses android first
Configures, flashes, tweaks, customizes, and so on... Its not bad its got some stability issues sometimes and the occasional stuck process but can do what they want.

Picks up iPhone 4
WTF, I cant change this? I have to use iTunes? Really? No flash? What?!? I have to download an app to access this webpage/service? Ugh I don't want to give it a chance I miss my freedom
or
Jailbreaks it, hey this is not that bad.

^ I'm just curious, how would you define what a technial user would want from a phone compared to a non tech?

I'm a fairly techical user and I like to customise. The thing is though, it's my phone. It's not my desktop computer, so if I lose live wallpapers for a bit of ease of use I'm not going to kill myself.

Sweet. Another Linux versus Windows type of argument. Why do you think people still use Windows?

That's easy. A technical user asks "Can I root it?".

You couldn't pay me to go back to a non-rooted phone.

I wanst trying to point out flaws/create an argument. I was actually complementing on iOS for being so user friendly and once a person becomes familiar with it they have a hard time giving something different much of a chance.
Depending on your technical level/needs and what you USE first determines your views. plain and simple is all I was saying. Even if a person not technical uses an android first and then goes to iPhone i'm certain they will enjoy the iPhone more after they give it a chance/get over the change.

I consider myself technical, I enjoy android and my DroidX. Having said that I'd much prefer to have my phone not be something I have to mod to get the best use out of it. I do like the out of box ready and easy to use feel of the iPhone, but I also want some customization. Android is slowly reaching that point....and speedier updates from vendors.

Galaxy S II is out, seems like an amazing little chunk of hardware. http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/28/s...y-s-ii-review/

tbh... i've completely forgotten what the stock UI of my cheap sony phone looks like even... and i'm speaking for myself if ios fanboys have a problem with that then too bad.

-rooted, custom rom, custom launcher, replaced some system apps from different android versions (bits n pieces from 2.2, 2.3, 3.0), overclocked from 600MHz to 780MHz and obviously the ability to do anything i damn want xD

personally i do not like the iphone... unless i'm a simple minded person who prefers having a locked phone which can't do squat :P

...first impressions: not great.

Until Google slicken it up a bit it's obvious why everyone wants an iPhone.
i don't see anything "obvious" about that... try running windows vista on a say... ViaC3 and then compare it to a say... i5.

the iphone (4) has ONE model only difference being diff storage sizes.
there are at least 200 diff models of android phones out there.

go figure.

Animations are not on par with the iPhone.

From what I can see comparing the 2 they are. My missus owns a iphone 4 so im testing this right now. Having said that, I am not running the mountain of widgets that comes pre loaded like friendstream, mail, photos, locations etc which no doubt take a toll on performance.

Although, having said that, that wouldn't be a fair comparison :-)

I understand what DM means about the slickness of the iOS. I had an iPhone 4 for a few days, then returned it in favor of an HTC Inspire (Desire HD). At first I was not sure I would want that phone, but I kept thinking about it, and now I love it. The screen size is just so much more usable for web browsing, and I like having the control that I have over my phone. I think part of the "slick" feel of the iOS is the familiar feel of it, I've used it for a few years, and it just feels natural.
