Default How long have you gone without sleep?
I've probably had about 4 hours sleep over the past 3 days. I am at work now (starting a new week) and I was so tired this morning I slept right through my alarm, and probably turned it off in my sleep, so I was running late. Then I fell asleep on the train and missed my stop. I think I even fell asleep during the walk to work after getting off the train becuase I don't remember getting a coffee and here I was holding one on my way through the front door!

I've been working on a couple of side projects that have been taking up a lot of my time and juggling those committments alongside a 9-5 is proving difficult as of late.

Odd thing is: because I also suffer migraines and really bad ones, when I don't get enough sleep I will usually get just the visual symptoms but not the pain, yet (thank god). I guess it's my body warning me that I'd better do something about my sleep deprivation. So on my way to work this morning I went almost blind in my left eye. Don't worry though, I have had this checked out in the past and there is nothing neurologically wrong with me... just that I get particularly bad migraine symtoms and my body will usually warn me with them in advance.

So this brings me to the topic in general... what are some of the rediculous hours you have pulled in the past and what effect did it have on you?

Don't lie. You didn't sleep through your alarm. Your alarm didn't go off.

Nothing extreme; probably about 30 hours.

Just felt generally unattentive and unhealthy. I probably couldn't do with just 4 hours' sleep in 3 days; it would render me ineffective in my work and on the road (driving) which would be bad. I'm not convinced that not sleeping would ever help me achieve more; I feel like I could probably be more productive with 5 or 6 hours of sleep vs 0 hours of sleep per day.

Hahaha, no i diched the iPhone a while ago. Although I must say the WP7 alarm clock is not much better. Still trying to figure out how the snooze works on that. I am convinced it doesn't. [rofl]

The most I even went without sleep was 38 hours when I was trying to sort out my sleep pattern. It didn't work cause when I fell asleep, I slept like a sack of bricks for 14 hours and nothing woke me up :P

Have gone around 4 days with zero sleep, until the little black spiders started creeping in from the corners of my eyes (dark spots you can see which are gone when you turn your eyes to focus on them) and paranoia making me think I can see people in windows when my mates couldn't see anything there.

I used to regularly do Friday - Sunday evening without sleep in my younger years.

Now I can barely do 20 hours without sleep [rofl]

4 days. Whilst working on a boat going through the worst storm the mediterranean had experienced for about 15 years. Couldn't even lie in my bunk without falling out of it. That was the most testing 100 hours of my life.

Well I've only ever done the 24 hours or a bit more without sleep. However when I used to work on a shift roster now and then I would do the 11pm to 7am shift for a few days. I did not adjust well to those and after having terrible sleep during the days I would be very cranky by day 3.

I have been in a similar boat when going to school. During that period, I don't think I had ever been more depressed in my life. It took me a very long time to process anything and found myself being extremely irritable. I never want to go through that again. It took a couple weeks of regular rest to feel normal again.

Get some rest, man!

3 days and 2 nights on an army exercise. Literally zero sleep during that whole time. We were either tabbing, putting in platoon level assaults, or harbored up on stag getting bumped the whole time.

We basically relied on pro-plus and coffee. Got to the point that on patrol, when you stopped on one knee you'd doze off within 5 seconds unless a mate kicked you [rofl]

Fun times

Tell me about it...way too much base over a couple of days. Was a horrible experience for myself and anyone around me. Quite frankly I'm amazed I came out the other side of it in one piece.

I'd rather be waterboarded with diarrhea than experience another speed comedown. My god, the unbridled horror. There isn't enough ******* in the world to get yourself through one of those bad boys.

Oh man, drugs. I feel I've missed out.

I'm up for 30 hours quite regular when working night shifts. Up at 5pm, work at 8pm till 8am, then stay up till bed at about 11pm.
