I've probably had about 4 hours sleep over the past 3 days. I am at work now (starting a new week) and I was so tired this morning I slept right through my alarm, and probably turned it off in my sleep, so I was running late. Then I fell asleep on the train and missed my stop. I think I even fell asleep during the walk to work after getting off the train becuase I don't remember getting a coffee and here I was holding one on my way through the front door!
I've been working on a couple of side projects that have been taking up a lot of my time and juggling those committments alongside a 9-5 is proving difficult as of late. Odd thing is: because I also suffer migraines and really bad ones, when I don't get enough sleep I will usually get just the visual symptoms but not the pain, yet (thank god). I guess it's my body warning me that I'd better do something about my sleep deprivation. So on my way to work this morning I went almost blind in my left eye. Don't worry though, I have had this checked out in the past and there is nothing neurologically wrong with me... just that I get particularly bad migraine symtoms and my body will usually warn me with them in advance. So this brings me to the topic in general... what are some of the rediculous hours you have pulled in the past and what effect did it have on you? |

Nothing extreme; probably about 30 hours.
Just felt generally unattentive and unhealthy. I probably couldn't do with just 4 hours' sleep in 3 days; it would render me ineffective in my work and on the road (driving) which would be bad. I'm not convinced that not sleeping would ever help me achieve more; I feel like I could probably be more productive with 5 or 6 hours of sleep vs 0 hours of sleep per day. |

Have gone around 4 days with zero sleep, until the little black spiders started creeping in from the corners of my eyes (dark spots you can see which are gone when you turn your eyes to focus on them) and paranoia making me think I can see people in windows when my mates couldn't see anything there.

I have been in a similar boat when going to school. During that period, I don't think I had ever been more depressed in my life. It took me a very long time to process anything and found myself being extremely irritable. I never want to go through that again. It took a couple weeks of regular rest to feel normal again.
Get some rest, man! |

3 days and 2 nights on an army exercise. Literally zero sleep during that whole time. We were either tabbing, putting in platoon level assaults, or harbored up on stag getting bumped the whole time.
We basically relied on pro-plus and coffee. Got to the point that on patrol, when you stopped on one knee you'd doze off within 5 seconds unless a mate kicked you [rofl] Fun times ![]() |

Tell me about it...way too much base over a couple of days. Was a horrible experience for myself and anyone around me. Quite frankly I'm amazed I came out the other side of it in one piece. |
