Last night my friend dropped my iPad 2 and shattered the screen. I went into the Apple store today, with no receipt, no box, bought it from Best Buy, they cracked open a brand new one and handed it over, no charge. Sorry what's wrong with that aftercare? [help] |

Apple penetration has always been deep. Back in '79 I saw my first one in a computer lab at HSU and was excited by it. It was was neat to have a machine that wasn't a trs-80! Before long all the schools were putting in apple computer labs.
But the cool kids all bought ataris and commodores for home use because you could get the whole system for ALOT less than an apple system. |

they do things like built in mem instead of modular so that you can't upgrade it yourself. instead you have to buy a better version. 16 gig, 32 gig, 64 gig.. you should be able to use any old sdcard with them to expand the memory to whatever you want. instead they want you to buy the model with more memory instead of just buying memory.. it's a load of bullshit when it comes to their marketing and manufacturing practices. they are only concerned with how they can squeeze the most out of their customers and not about putting out the best high quality product. they claim to be top shelf and price their product that way but it's anything but the best it could be. instead of putting out a product with everything included they dribble it out over the life of the product and get many to buy the same hardware over and over again with only slight changes that could be handled by add ons like a wifi card or expanded memory. but some want to compare a proprietary options limited product to one of a lower price that's upgradeable. how can you compare the two.. one you have to buy 10 times to get to the best version and and the other just needs upgrades to get to there.. Oh yeah i almost forgot, Apple doesn't force you to buy their stuff. |

I don't believe iOS has been surpassed, yet. Hence why I have one, I also don't believe i'm the only person that believes that. http://www.eweek.com/c/a/Mobile-and-...mScore-139951/ Apple may take the lead this summer when the 5 launches, until then it looks like its Android's game |

So buy some crappy Sammy phone that will let you upgrade your mem card from 2 to 4GB, ****, maybe even 8GB. Not quite as good as 16/32 or 64GB but hey at least it'll give you some control over the memory slot. They support upto 32GB, my Galaxy S has 48GB storage. [rolleyes] |

I think it was passed just after the xmas count. RIM still has the top slot however. |

They support upto 32GB, my Galaxy S has 48GB storage. As for my previous build comment... I sort of mumbled two points together, so let me un-jumble them: 1. The 2nd Gen MacBook Pro I bought in 2007... Suffered from lack of CPU-to-heatpipe TIM; even once applied the heat issues were horrible -- after much use, it sounded like a 747 spinning its engines up, the hinges rubbed the back of the panel when you use the laptop against a hard surface -- scratching it up, the battery was toast in 2 years -- after 3 it had swollen... I also went through 3 wireless mighty mice due to the scrollballs stopping functioning. We won't even go into the 3 AC adapters that separated the cord from the adapter... Evidently it's my fault for wrapping it loosely around the adapter, even though a company started itself solely manufacturing "cord savers" for just that issue... And I've been doing the same thing to AC adapters for PC laptops for 20+ years. 2. Many Apple worshippers honestly troll the web blabbering about how the hardware that goes into Macs, even if identical to a part in a PC, is superior than the exact part in a PC... either by (EDIT) differentiated functionality or because they're specially binned. ![]() But what really gets me is how quickly they are willing to lie to consumers to sell more products... They made it VERY clear that my MBP wouldn't support Win 7 x64, stating the hardware wouldn't support it. They refused to release a native bootcamp driver package for months until finally silently releasing them without acknowledging their "mistake." Funnily, I was running 7 x64 the day it was launched on my MBP, sans OS X, with all the drivers from Vista x64 installed. ![]() I'll hand it to Apple, they're a marketing juggernaut... [surrender] |

what was the first nvidia gpu that apple used? the 8800 i remember correctly and it was twice the price of the pc version of the 8800... 2007-2008 somewhere in that time frame i think. before that i believe it was exclusively intel discreet graphics on their systems.. correct me if i'm wrong.. You can reset the computers your account is tired to (which I have done many times when I reinstall Windows and forget to unregister it with iTunes). The rest you post about iTunes is complete BS, as I have been adding my own stuff to iTunes since it came out. So I don't know where you got that from. I have no problem playing quicktime files in other players (VLC for example). I agree on your point about Apple liking to lock down their systems, but then there are advantages to doing that (e.g. not having to think about installing antivirus software on your iPhone like with Android). |

It comes with a 8GB mmc stock i believe. You can upgrade to 32GB that's true but not all mmc's are even compatible. Anyways, i still think it's sh1t. You should try an iPhone one day. ![]() |

A workmate dropped her iphone 4 in a sink full of water, touchscreen packed up and condensation on the camera lens. Took it to our nearest apple store, they handed over a sealed/boxed brand new one, no charge... Friend of mine bought a new Macbook, paid 100 euros extra for the black one, after 4 months her battery died. She went back to the store and came back home empty handed; Apple gave only 3 months of warranty she was told by the vendor (Mediamarkt, which is one of the biggest in the NL), and the only option she had was buying a new one, costing about 150 euros. No exceptions were made because Apple was supposedly very strict about this, seemingly not even supporting the European rules they must apply to? And top that off with the fact that macbooks were about 15% more expensive in Europe (999dollars in us = 1200 euros in europe) that's just a bit rediculous in my opinion. And my laptop: I destroyed the power inlet accidentally on my Sony Vaio laptop. Was honest about this (funnily @ Mediamarkt too) they told me I'd probably have to pay 150 euros, I told em ok. Two weeks later had it back, no charge, with a vaio branded cloth microfiber thingy on top, a pink one! My hdd hadn't been wiped either, which was nice. Long story short; don't pin stuff on the companies that produce them when it's mostly the people a few layers down that make these choices, and they are never the same as the other. |

Really annoys me when they say Apples build quality is better than everyone else's because it isn't. They may design it but dont build it.
I will never buy a Mac because as others have said they are just over priced PC's. Their mobile products though I find are decently priced and usually reliable but no more reliable than anyone else's. I have always bought HTC smartphones and, many of them over the years and they have never let me down. I never bought the iPhone 1 because at the time it was shite to be honest hardware wise compared to what HTC had out at the time, the iPhone 3G was not much better. It wasn't until the 3Gs did Apple finally start catching up and I decided then I would buy one and loved it, great GUI and plenty of useful apps that i like, currently use the iPhone 4 and will be getting the 5th one when they release it. My iPad experience has been terrible so far though, only bought my first one (first gen) 11 days ago because of the large discount. I picked up the iPad 1 64gb 3G, absolutely love it so far, great for browsing the net in bed ![]() First one I was not happy with because of a bad problem with backlight bleeding through, it was even all over except for what looked like two large finger marks from corner to corner where the backlit was brighter than the rest of it ![]() Took it back within 24hrs and had an immediate replacement. Replacement worked great for ten days then all of a sudden the screen was acting possessed, buttons tapping themselves, apps opening on their own, keyboard opening and closing every second. So much for paying for a premium product that just works, yer right. I am now on my third one in just eleven days and so far all seems ok, just hope this one stays that way. Sorry for this being a bit long ![]() ![]() |

I will never buy a Mac because as others have said they are just over priced PC's. Even someone who had seen a mac box in the real world would know that there is a world of difference between the two. I'm not getting into an argument about whether the price is right or not, but as far as the user experience goes they are chalk and cheese. Please don't follow others ignorance, it's painfully embarrassing to watch. |

Truthfully, have you ever used a mac? A lot of people I have spoken too though do like the design of the macs and can afford them without any problems but it always comes down to price, they are just are overpriced for what they are. Im not anti apple in anyway, I own an iPhone 4, iPod Classic 160gb, iPod Nano 6g, and now recently the iPad 3G 64g. If Apple wants to be more competitive in the PC market they are just going to have to price the macs lower, but that will probably never happen. Even Jobs has said the majority of their income no longer comes from macs but from the mobile devices instead, iPods, iPhones and iPads, amazing considering how long Apple has been in the computer business. Not going to argue as it's just my personal opinion. |
