Default Apple Penetration
Get your head out of the gutter.

Look around you, bars, malls, airports, coffee shops... Apple products are everywhere! The iPhone4 has to be the most common device I have seen in the past two weeks.

As I look around the airport I am currently at, there are at least three MacBooks in sight.

Is this a good thing?

Note: I am writing this on a MacBook Pro Wifi Tethered to Android!

Is this a good thing?
No, it means I may have to get an inferior product just to feel special.

Have you really just noticed this? [rofl]

Apple do a great job when it comes to marketing, even marketing old features as new and in some cases just making stuff up.

An example of this would help greatly...

I happen to think Apple's products are pretty well built, the iPhone 4 certainly doesn't feel "cheap" to me, it has a feature rich operating system which offers pretty much anything I can think I might need outside of the "gadget, use once style shite". What's wrong with it? If your going to bash anyone, bash Nokia, from what I remember they we're the market leader, and maybe still are? Have you guys even looked at the ****ing shite they push out? What about Microsoft, windows phone... what a joke, seriously.

Oh, and yes, i'm an Apple fanboy, but I would say my argument has relevance in the market. I had a HTC Desire, and yes, the customisation was fun, for a few days, but then I started to miss the quality of the applications, the practically bug free OS, the build quality, the "bling" of having an iPhone... this is why the product sells, because its good...

Oh, and I love Google, they are an amazing company, I use a huge amount of their products, I run a google apps domain for over 1000 users, I only use gmail, i'm interested in everything they do, Android, no doubt, will be an incredible success, but... isn't there room for competition anymore? Each product has it's ups and downs, Android is by no means perfect, neither is iOS, but both have their strengths... surely?

The iPhone compared to other phones is a very good product. Similar hardware to others and priced accordingly. Nothing out of the ordinary. Apple has actually greatly moved the mobile market and now the tablet market with a killer tab hardware wise and priced accordingly.

Though I don't care for Apple products in general. I don't like their mobile products cause I dislike OS and I do not like their laptops/desktops because these are the overpriced PC. Before I did not mind when they were on the G series CPU, but now they are 100% similar to say a Dell, just a different OS and $500+ more for a similar configured PC. So a $500 premium for their OS when I had rather have Linux for free!

Though on my side of the world, I see a TON of Android phones. Rarely ever see an iPhone. I see an iPad as often as I see a PSP which is never. I find odd cause these products have sold millions.
Just like I rarely bumped into people that have a PS2/PS3. Always been xbox 1 and xbox 2. For the PS2 I find it amazing cause there are like 150 million units out there.

And market saturation of the device doesn't help Facetime succeed where others have failed? I think you'll find it just might

Video calls we'rent worth making previous to Facetime, now it's actually high quality video/sound that there might actually be a point to using the feature.

Not to mention, that it's easy... it works, that's all there is to it. It's not carrier dependant, and is country independant.

EDIT - It's also free...

Just to clarify, I am an apple fanboy, but I have never, nor will I, ever, own a Mac/Macbook. Your on the money right there, it's an overpriced PC.

There's definitely an element of them being a bit of a fashion accessory as well.

I actually think Apple has the mobile OS down pretty well. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of OSX and would prefer Windows 7 any day, which is nice because like you say, a Dell machine is probably cheaper. But then again, we can start the whole argument that Apple Mac's are aimed at the higher end user etc etc

Anyway iOS is good. It's partly why Apple have taken the phone and tablet market into a new generation quite convincingly, and why everyone else is playing catch up.... still.

That's BS.

I'm not dissing Apple products because specs wise they have always been good and they have pushed the mobile market forward, but that doesnt mean I have to buy into all the hype and marketing BS they spew out.

The iPhone is just one of many highend touchscreen phones, Apple marketing is pretty amazing, even getting product placement on the BBC before it was even allowed. [rofl]

I'm in no way an Apple fanboy, I just like having things that are well built and can perform the job required. It just so happens that Apple products fit this criteria.

The above arguement however is one of the sillest that gets thrown around on this forum. If you can find an equivalent spec laptop, to say a Macbook, that has a large multi-touch trackpad, backlit keyboard, similar battery life that is substantially cheaper then you have a valid arguement.

A company in it for the money? Shock horror! Who would have thought it! [shocked]

There's never been product placement on the BBC, and it's still not allowed now anyway.
