Some of you like the Apple range of products, fair enough
BUT where do you stand on the problems people have had with them, such as battery replacement, scratched screens and other issues? Most seem to like the product but have pure contempt when it comes to warranty repairs, servicing and getting replacements? Have they actually taken actions to remedy these issues as that seemed to be the main reason to loathe them? |

It really is amazing isn't it. Even as early as 2006 I would have laughed that a day like this was even possible with Apple in the position they are right now. And here I sit now in my office with a MacBook to my right, a PC to my center, and an iPhone4 to my left whereas there used to never be any Apple products in my house! What happened? [shocked]

apple has gone the way of gaming. regurgitated over and over with a slight change under the hood.. look at the iphone release.. they put out limited versions acting like they need more time to get it all in the product.. getting you to buy the first one because you have to have "the next great thing" right now.. then a couple months later all of the sudden a new and better one. and it goes on for the life of the product. you buy the first one for 500 then a few months later you buy the better one with more storage or some other thing that should have been there from the start for 100 bucks more than the first one.. two months later and they add wifi or something else and they all go out and drop more money on that version. and it goes on and on.. so for what should have been a 300 dollar phone turns into 2000 after you finally get to the finished product.. and a draw full of obsolete phones.. but don't fret.. they have this new awesome ipad/iphone that you can get now.. and don't worry they will get all the options built in over time and you can check out each version as they get them out.. the first one will only cost you $800.. oh and don't forget to rush in and get in line at the store.. all the scalpers will buy the stores out in the first day because they just can't seem to manufacture enough.. nope they just can't build a plant big enough to fill the demand... |

I know I wont be purchasing any Mac products until their prices become in line with that of the other manufacturers and gaming becomes more readily available.
I just bought a 15 inch notebook for less than half the price of the 15 inch Macbook Pro whilst still getting the same CPU, 2 GB of extra ram, 140 GB of extra hard drive space whilst being faster, and a much much better GPU that's not actually a step backwards integrated GPU. The only problem with the one I purchased is that it does not come with an Apple logo standard. |

Why are people happy to pay more for a premium brand car but think a premium brand computing product is ridiculous? Or are you actually entertaining the notion that a macbook pro should cost about the same as a Dell Studio laptop? If so, you're obviously completely mad. |

It's conservative people who seem to want companies to make every dollar they can, and it's poor conservative people who bitch because they can't afford it then. Josey, if you decided to spend less money on chrome testicles for all of your vehicles, you could own nicer things. As to jebediah_bill's comment: 1. What makes the Apple build quality so "superior" when it comes to their computer systems? Are you going to tell me, like so many other Apple zombies that if you take Part A from Company A out of an Apple, it's better than Part A from Company A out of a PC? ![]() 2. & 3. You do know plenty of other companies make multi-touch trackpads as well as backlit keyboards? In fact, the "multitouch" is nothing new, but Apple DID innovate and take what was already there to the next level. 4. If you compare apples to apples in terms of battery life (haha), you'd realize the Macs have no better battery life than an equivalent PC. It comes down to the software platform and more importantly, how you use it. |

/thread Also my point was not to illustrate that other companies don't use multi-touch or backlit keyboards (Sony were the first to use this feature), but if you are comparing a laptop to a Mac then you should compare every feature rather than just CPU, RAM and hard disk. Lastly my equivalent spec Dell laptop lasts just over 3 hours on battery, with power saving set to maximum, compared to over 5 hours on the Mac (both running Win7 and Citrix Xenapp client). Running OS X the battery easily lasts approx 7 hours, so yes it does largely depend on software. |
