A lad I work with just came into my office and the conversation went like this:

Him: Was that you're sausage roll in the fridge?
Me: Yeh
Him: I've just had it
Me: You what?
Him: I didn't think you wanted it
Me: So you nicked it?
Him: I thought you were going to throw it
Me: So that gives you the right to take it then?
Him: I'm sorry (in a you're over-reacting tone)
Me: It's not good enough, you can't just take things that aren't yours. Now I can't leave things in the fridge in case you pinch them
Him: I'm not going to steal things (in an incredulous tone)
Me: You just told this whole office you did

I dropped it at this point, although I felt like reporting him to his line manager I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He's one of those people who thinks he can get away with doing bad things as long as he puts on a cheeky smile straight after and tells you he's done it.
