I would definitely go to Sarasota, I'm originally from there and the beaches there are beautiful. It's not too far from Orlando. Check out siesta key beach, its really well known for it's sand which is supposed to be the whitest and finest sand in the world or something. It feels like baby powder, whereas most sand in comparison feels like salt or rougher. The sunsets on Siesta are really amazing too, you can see the sun perfectly as it drops below the horizon. The village on siesta key is really cool too, just a cool little beach town with a lot of cool bars and restaurants. If you're the kinda person who likes celebrity stalking theres a rich neighborhood called bird key where quite a few live. The two I know about off hand are lead singer of AC/DC and Jerry Springer lol.
If you like roller coasters, Busch Gardens in Tampa is really really great too. It also is a pretty respectable zoo. It has pretty much all the African animals in the park too. Gorillas, chimps, giraffes, nile crocs, hippos, rhinos, elephants, cheetahs, lions, and a kangaroo petting zoo( I know they're Australian but they're there anyway). Along with lots of other stuff. Universal studios is pretty cool too but it's always super packed and Busch is better imo. If you're a harry potter fan though you'd probably wanna do universal. I'm not too into harry potter but the ride was awesome and butterbeer was really good. Disney gets a lot of publicity but its full of little kids and not very much fun stuff for adults. Edit: saw you said st. pete for beaches. I would definitely scrap that. St pete is a bit closer to Orlando but drive 30 min more to Siesta and the beaches are 100x better. I've been to both many times and trust me, Siesta is the best beach in FL. Key west has better water, but the beach on siesta is amazing. I would also suggest walking it at night, the beach is empty, its a really nice walk, and its really relaxing. Esp if you're drunk or high(sorry if you don't smoke). |

The first time i was in Sarasota, what drove me nuts is that people drive at speed limit or slower. Im so used to Wash Dc area where people drive like its Dirt Derby. But after a month, i got used to it and started to enjoy the slow pace of Sarasota. Wall Marts are one stop shop pretty much for anything as well. Its the only place i have found that sells a 6 pack of White Russian. |
