Yeah I know. Whats the point? Whats wrong with a company having plants in other nations? VW for example iirc has some 30 plants in 15 different nations or so. Might even be higher. "Well yeah, they are moving to the states because it is a huge portion of their sales, so makes sense to make plants state side. Just like Ford and Chevy have plants all over the world because they are global companies, using global platforms and wanting to increase their global sales, so you make plants in other nations. They already have everything they need in the US/Canada because this is where they started. One key difference though is the foreign companies are building in the south, away from radical unions, high labor, high utility costs, higher taxes while the American companies for some reason keep building plants in the North East part of America and in Canada. They still don't have a single plant down in the South yet while VW, Kia, Hyundai, BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, and Nissan all have plants down in the Southeast part of the USA." Both demestic and foreign companies are building cars for the domestic market, but the "foreign" companies are building plants in America, whereas the American companies aren't - they're building, or have built, them in other countries, so the irony of the protest was they idiots were attacking companies that provided local jobs whereas the "Big Three" were providing many foreign jobs tot he detriment of the local workers. Heck, for a while even Harley Davidson had one bike that was 100% foreign made! |
