Default Feeling the need to vent my anger...
@ eBay...

So, I place some bids on an iphone 4, I get outbid, someone else wins it... fair enough you might think. No... then I receive (confirmed, legitimate) Second Chance Offer, on the iphone 4 I just lost out on, asking me to reconsider as the winning bidder was a timewaster, so I thought, NICE, bought it, paid, confirmed details with the seller, woohoo iphone on the way!

Not that simple... it turns out, eBay decided to contact the seller, and tell her, they think im a scammer... (yay), they cancel the auction, delete the item from ebay, tell her to relist the item... meanwhile telling me F&%( ALL.

So I go to check out the details of my auction, find out they deleted it, and contact the seller, who tells me to get F*(&%£*D, im the scammer, and she'll deal with me when ebay have confirmed im not a scammer... so i'm now £450 down, apparently an international fraudster, and phoneless as of Wednesday.

This will be the last time I use it, and let this be a warning...

Hmm I never bought anything from Ebay and this is a good reason why I shouldn't start.

I've bought and sold tons of stuff on eBay and never had a problem, apart from the odd non-paying bidder but I just report them to eBay, and someone who sold me pirated software, but I got their account banned for them.

I don't use it much these days though.

Serves me right for being a bloody Apple fanboy... need to get a grip on reality I think

Just a question: why would you buy a second hand iPhone 4 on eBay for £450 when you get get a brand new unlocked one direct from Apple for only ~£50 more?

I don't like ebay and never really have. Whenever I go look there, I never find any "deals" at all.

I only use ebay as another shopping store like Amazon. I only do the "Buy Now". I usually only get stuff for my vehicles on there.

It is very interesting on how you just totally got shafted like that.

eBay owns a Swedish version of it called Tradera which I've been begun to use quite a bit. It's easy to use and you're usually getting the stuff or money. Just make sure to do everything by common guidelines and of course check the rumour system as which people can report, I think it works excellent.

The issue is though someone that gets banned they can create a new account right? If that person was banned mistakenly (which I can't see happening that often) it should be able to recover it but not otherwise. If it's personal, e.g it links the account to where your live and actual credential of who you're it's usually safe that people keep to the rules.

EDIT: Using PayPal as a holder for money/items are very safe. Even though they take like 1$ + 3% it's worth it. I rather pay service like that then to lose a lot to some douchebag scammer.

Why in the universe would you buy anything on ebay?

Also, if you really must, always use your credit card - you can always cancel payment.

I don't really understand that question, and thanks for the tip on the credit card.

I would rather have got it straight from Apple myself.

Have you actually heard anything from eBay yourself? From what you wrote in your OP it seems like all you know has come from the seller. I smell something fishy.

yep ebay confirmed to me, they told her im a scammer, no real explanation why, other than "we do this for the safety of our sellers, if we see unusual activity"... which is me, placing bids on items, on, GOD FORBID, an auction site, which accepts bids, wait for it... ON ITEMS. [beta]

eBay is fine long as ya play it safe.

Did you have any good feedback at all? and if so how much? how old was your account? I would like to know more details on your account as it don't sound right unless you have a new account/not much good feedback or have been doing weird bidding.

I have 365 positive feedback, and ive had an account for like 6 years.

And I don't think placing a few bids on an item, then accepting the second chance offer is really anything dodgy

If your account is like that then something is not adding up.

I was about to say, something about this does not make sense. If you legitimately paid for the item, how are you a scammer? What method did you use to pay for the item? If it was via Paypal, then they will have record of the transaction which completely puts you in the clear. The consumer (i.e. the buyer) generally has all the power when it comes to a transaction, as even if you do not buy insurance and the item breaks in the mail, the seller is still responsible (had that happen a few of times with my auctions). And with your account in such good positive standaing, why in the world would eBay think you, of all people, are the one at fault here? Something's fishy. Perhaps there are a few details you are leaving out?

Indeed it's the buyer who has the power these days on ebay/paypal, buyer is fully protected so really the transition should of gone through nicely with you getting full satisfaction out of the deal. If you really have that much feedback and being the buyer there should not have been any issue's, how much feedback did the seller have also? As above something just don't seem right.

Sellers get scammed allot due to this now though, as buyers can make out they never got what they brought in the post get their money back and have a free item and other scams due to this shift in powers between buyers/sellers on ebay/paypal, I've never seen something like this though especially considering your the buyer as this is not in the policies these days.

Contact EBAY, stating you are unhappy with their libelous* statement to another party which was made with no foundation whatsoever and, if you don't receive an apology and the other party isn't notified of true situation, you will be taking further action.
Probably do naff-all, but you seem to have a good case.

*libel (for written, broadcast, or otherwise published words)—is the communication of a statement that makes a claim, expressly stated or implied to be factual, that may give an individual, business, product, group, government, or nation a negative image. It is usually a requirement that this claim be false and that the publication is communicated to someone other than the person defamed (the claimant).

Ebay is bullshit in my opinion, I made an auction for a friend, for whatever reason the action got deleted by the moderators, but they refunded me my ebay listing fee. However that is in my ebay account balance and there's no way to get it back into my bank account, I can only use it to make another auction with, but I have no want to do that at all.
