Watched the preair doing the "rounds", not bad, quite enjoyed it.

Always good to see another Brit lead too, if only to piss off the token european nobodies.

So, you guys have watched it, and if you haven't, I will try and be cryptic. What did you think about the Target Practice from the 2nd story window. Man, that was intense. Not a scared intense, but for me, it was a twist in my chair uncomfortable 20 seconds. What a crappy situation to be in. I sure hope we see more of those 2.

I really enjoyed the tank scene, especially the gong moment. I couldn't tell if he was trying to get away from the tank (sound) when he stood up, or still had sense enough after the sound concussion to realize the hatch was open and zombies would be entering shortly.

The scene where the lawman tracks down that zombie (through its trail in the grass) was filled with such compassion. It makes me wonder if that was someone he recognized, or just a loose end he had to stitch in his mind.

It is very strange to have a zombie movie that doesn't rely on killing zombies as the only substance. I was more nervous in the dark stairwell with matches scene then any other zombie movie scene... and there weren't even any zombies.

I've read all the comics (so far) and I can safely say that this series is just as good (if not better)! It's truly excellent. [yes]
I'd say this episode alone is pretty much better than any Zombie film in the last 10 years (except maybe Rec).

I can't wait for the next episode, though it's hard to think how closely they'll follow the comics because so far they're pretty much identical - though the comic is very long (I think they're on issue #78 now).

I was impressed with the budget, but story wise I see this getting old real quick.. also the cop just shooting his old cop buddy in the head like that seemed very off... why do people in shows never behave as a normal person would? If I wake up somewhere and there's death all around me I'd be freaking out WAAAY more than this guy did... him being a tough cop doesn't make it more believeable...

Because of errors like this the other supposed emotional stuff seems very forced...
I don't get why they show headshots up close with all the gore either like it's fun?

As an experienced cop, he should be used to having to cope and manage - plus, as I guess you've never been in shock, often the person is just dealing with things as they've been trained, by rote,, rather than thinking about it.

Yeah, that is what people like to watch, someone crying non-stop!

no I wish he didn't adapt so freaking easily to the situation.. just blowing the brains out of a former collegue without hesitation was silly.. the guy just showed zero emotion, might just be bad acting.. I preffered the black guy

and as an experienced cop should be able to cope and manage?? common cops are no super heros..

ok, you are pissed that 2 days after waking up he now see's the zombies as less than human and is indifferent about killing them? He didn't get any joy from killing the former police officer at the end (an officer, he states he never really cared for when he was human) though he did seem to still be curious, and the chain link fence offered a safe opportunity to get a close up view of the former cop. You do realize, that the very person you are complaining about immediately left there to track down that crawling zombie. So, the emotion you were looking for was in the very next scene.

He is not a super hero, but he does originate from a comic book. He is a very 1 tracked mind individual, who is currently searching for his wife and child. Thus, he is holding back his emotions, something that is explained he is very good at in the "you have heard all you life to turn off the light switch and you still haven't learned" scene.

I recommend you pay closer attention to the scenes that have no zombies... that is where they explain stuff.

How can you guys like 28 days later? Those kind of mindless **** sucks. Kind of like budget versions based upon Resident Evil..[yawn]
28 Days Later is probably my favorite zombie move period. It has decent character development for a film like this, and is artistically very well done. It's very moody/atmospheric as well.

Mindless zombies movies, I tend to think more along the lines of Resident Evil and Dawn of the Dead.

Anyway, the Walking Dead pilot was pretty damn good. I'm excited to watch tonight.

Cops are probably slightly more desensitized to violence/less apt to hesitenforcementate pulling the trigger if they've had to do it a few times for their job too...Law enforcement/military personnel would probably adapt better than normal citizens once they realize what's going on, they'll do what they need to survive. Doesn't take a super hero to pull a trigger.

Much like we here on the internet are desensitized to porn. Normaly people are like "oh my God, what is that woman doing to those dead animals?!?!" and they proceed to get sick. We, on the other hand, shrug and say "meh, that's too tame for my taste."

Pretty much.
