Default Do you make your office a home?
I'm just curious, how many people here bring stuff into their office to make it feel more personal? Such as pictures, knick-knacks, furniture, etc. I've never really done this but I've noticed a lot of office workers in my time who do (some of which go to town). Is this something more for the middle-aged moms, or is it something everyone does that I just need to get onboard with?

Thoughts?

Nope. No time for it - I'm too bloody busy when I'm at work. I have enough trouble fitting all my work stuff on my desk let alone other crap.

I do have a few of my Costa Rica photos on my PC desktop though - placed over our corporate wallpaper / mission statement bollocks. I like to think of it as my little act of defiance to the man.

Yeah it does generally seem to be something for women. I would like to do more to my desk but I never seem to get the time. At the moment all I have is an image of Blake from Glengarry Glen Ross edited so it says Always Be Staging and a Zombie warning poster on the door.

On the other hand I have trash all over my desk so that makes it more like home.

If you have time to worry about stuff like that then you're not busy enough. At most it seems men will just have pics of their children. Though doesn't go beyond that.

Nothing at all, the desk is filled with paper and other random bits of junk. It's definitely more of a woman's thing a need to express themselves etc etc.

I make origami while my code compiles and put it on the shelves. The building I'm working in (at CERN) has this open architecture thing going and people put up pictures from their home town, plots they really like or even internet memes so it's a really cool place to work in.

I thought about putting a poster up, but then I got busy with work and I haven't really noticed that my desk is totally devoid of anything that isn't work-related.

Other than pictures of the Husband and kids, all I've put in my office is a jumbo size planter with flowars, a smiley face mylar balloon, three paintings, a couch, stereo, two chairs, one of those cool little perpetual motion desk annoyances, a dartboard, a peacock feather, a smushed 7.62 round and a rock.

Yeah, I'm a middle aged mother. But its all good, because putting random **** in your office is awesome.

I don't do that but I do spend more time at my office than I do at my home.

Cubicle is entirely void of personal items aside from my coffee cup. Some people at work literally make it their home, though and have boxes of cereal and silverware and whatnot in their cabinets above their cubicle. There are men at my workplace who have personal knickknacks in their cubes, though.
