Actually, there are more complex beers than Arrogant ******* Ale. I've been a fan for years when it was a small, hard to find craft ale mainly on the West coast, but now that is become popular with hipsters and yuppies it has lost its appeal. I think I just swallowed my own vomit... |

Don't be ridiculous - Rolling Rock, Bud Light and Coors Low Calorie... On another note, I went to the Stone brewery in San Diego a few months ago and thought I died and went to heaven. ![]() |

Rainwind, your story isn't unlike everyone else who's ever had beer. My first was some god awful crap my friends god for as cheap as they could, and I can't imagine anything worse. And shortly after that I had to drink some warm Fosters, and I swore off beer for life. [rofl]
Years later I was coaxed into trying Michelob Amber Bock and I realized that not all beer is crap! A revelation! And my one shining moment of beer glory is when a friend of a friend was able to pick up two bottles of Arrogant ******* on a trip out of state, and I got half of one. Good ****ing lord is that stuff good! A pox upon their brewery for not supplying alcohol to my lovely state! Having said that, I was at World Market this past week and saw that they had Dixie Brewing Co.'s "Blackened Voodoo" and couldn't pass up buying two six packs of it... The beer gods have cursed me! BTW I hate Guiness. Who wants to drink flat beer? ![]() |

I still can't believe how many people drink that garbage on a consistent basis, all the while considering it good beer. I'm sure that our canadian counterparts in beer leagues bring better beer to their games lol. Some of the canadian guys I played with would bring Molson or LaBatts on occasion, which was nice. |

I know how you feel. I never used to think I'd ever like beer just because I couldn't stand the way it smelled, but when I turned 21 I went to a bar with a friend and tried a handful of the domestic beers, and Coors Light was the only beer I could really stand at the time, because it tasted the least bitter.
Nowadays my taste has obviously changed and I do like Yuengling as my every day beer, and I do enjoy trying different beers at the bar. Some are nasty, but I've come across ones that are pretty good. My girlfriend has been to Austria and Germany, and stayed in Salzburg & Tirol for a study abroad semester for college. She got me to try a Stiegl when we found some at a beer place that gets imports, and I must say it's one of the best I've had so far. I don't have a refined palate for beer so I don't always fully appreciate much of the subtleties in the flavor and such, but I'm at least trying. |
