Everyone's starting to join the bandwagon of slating Apple. Microsoft and Intel have been in the same boat. Hopefully Jobs has taken his blood pressure pills

Yeah, it kinda makes you wonder why with all this Apple hate going around everywhere why some little angry hacker hasn't brought down my system yet, a system with no virus or malware protection. How come in the 4 years of being a Macfag I ain't had a single problem and yet in my PC years I had tons?

at the end of the day, good user discipline = safe computing

It's not that, it's how stupid/ignorant the user is with surfing dodgy sites and downloading ****. Most Mac people don't know how to.

I'm going to eat nothing. All I said was that OSX is inherently more secure from user error than windows. I stand by that. Anything that makes you type in a password for changes to occur instead of just clicking a button would follow that rule, whether it be two different OS's or two different lawnmowers.

Up until now I had no idea what OS was more secure. Today I have learned that windows is actually a more secure codebase and that you have absolutely no ****ing idea what the word context means.

I know, isn't it great that they throw in the monitor and the big box with the electronics in for free!

I've never been "safe" with my browsing habits, and not once have I gotten a Virus or Malware on my Mac, let alone any adware or spyware. I have anti-virus software that I install every couple of months or so, do a quick scan, and it's clean every time.

rofl, what a ton of BS.

Do you remember that virus a few years ago that spread like wildfire and meant you couldn't even get into windows without it restarting constantly? That didn't necessitate visiting anything as far as I can remember. Mac users come in all guises, they aren't just the stereotypes you hope they are. My surfing habits haven't changed, but my resistance to things ****ing with my machine has.

Depends I'd say. Most malware/viruses, etc are out to get something from users, be it information, +1 PC for the botnet network or whatever. As such it makes sense to target the platform that reaps the best results, hence the one with most users.

I think that very few viruses are created as a means of pissing people off for the sake of some fashion statement.

Oh lord, it definitely won't help you out at all.

Most people get used to dialogue boxes and just click OK without reading them properly when they popup, or don't understand what they are clicking (which is about 50% of home users). Making you type in a password has two effects. 1) you can't just click it by accident, and 2) the psychological effect that makes you think it must be quite important if it wants a password.

Did you not bother going to school?

I certainly didn't bother trying to learn a MACS in and outs, but what your saying unless what you've put on you computer before and allow it access that every thing you down load or pops up requires a password...

Not everything you download will be an executable and influence the OS in a way that could be harmful, hence of course it won't ask a password for everything. It's kinda like installing a program on windows when not running as an administrator.
