Kalashnikov shooting
I'm going to Poland for a few days at the end of June and we've decided to do the gun shooting day. You get to fire all sorts of stuff. Anyone got any tips (I know a lot of Americans on here shoot a lot) for accuracy on these things? I've only shot a sports rifle and shot gun before now and I'm buggered if I'm being beaten by the rest of the lads!

Yeah, don't use a Kalashnikov

crouch, use burst fire and aim for the crotch will ensure the recoil getting you some headshots.

I believe it was Prodigy that said, "Aim for the waist, and something on the top get shot."
You will feel like Tim Wakefield with that knuckleball out of the cannon. |
AK-47 or AK-74?
Are they full-auto or semi-auto? Now for my advice for being accurate, AIM! So many people pick up a gun and point it away and start pulling the trigger. |

I dunno, in short lol. |

Maybe that? Tough to say. Full-auto means you pull the trigger and more than one round comes out. Semi-auto means it fires once everytime you pull the trigger. They are using 15-round magazines, so they won't be the "Banana Clips" you're used to seeing. |
Brace yourself well, single or 3 shot bursts, aim low until you see how the recoil affects your shots.
Take extra cash for extra ammo' - so you can make the most of the day. Have fun and don't shoot yourself in the foot - or anyone else! |
Single shot from standing or kneeling. Don't attempt burst fire unless you are prone - otherwise its nothing but a waste of ammunition.

For my dad's marksmanship tests in the Soviet army, they needed to hit a torso target with iron sights at 300m... so you can imagine that a Russian gun can do at least that... which would translate into about a 3" group at 100m. Otherwise, just lean into it, put the stock firmly against your shoulder, and relax. |
