I have an odd situation and I don't even know anyone who might be able to help, or if I am doing the right things to fix it.
This morning I saw an email in my gmail inbox that had been read but I had never even seen it. Someone had tried to use my email address on Steam's website to see any connected accounts. So the email was from Steam stating what accounts I have connected to that email. I checked the account activity feature gmail just added and it had an IP address from Sweden that had logged on about the time the email was sent from Steam. No emails were sent that I hadn't done myself, and none of my other accounts with the same password or with the email address associated had been tampered with as far as I can tell. I looked up the IP that gmail gave and it was connected to an anonymous proxy website. I also checked Steam (honestly I don't use it and don't even know why I had an account with them) and no games were purchased and nothing was changed. Why would someone have done this? I've already changed my passwords and am running spyware stuff now. But if it was spyware or something wouldn't they have used it for something malicious? Not to check one email sent to me from a game site? |
