Default Powwwwwweeeeeeeeeerrrr!!!!
Hooray! I'm back in the civilized world now!!!

Sorry I'm super excited right now. Been without power since tuesday because of a freak storm system that came through all FREAKING week. Storm dumped over 6 feet of snow here in my little town, about 4 feet left after compression. Lost 6 ponderosa pines, 2 doug firs and I'm pretty sure we lost our 200 hundred year old oak as well. We had to tunnel out of my house. We get a ton of snow here on average but this was an extra insane storm. My county was declared a state of emergency, absolutely nuts. We are on a well too, so there was no water, we had to melt snow on a gas stove constantly. Gotta love Northern California, we call the extreme amounts of heavy snow we get here "Cascade Concrete", due to the fact that the Cascade mountains run north and south and are generally less than 100 miles from the pacific ocean, meaning the storm systems slams into the mountains like a wall, dropping tons of heavy snow.

Our local ski area is still without power, but they got over 10 feet since last weekend, just insane. Can't wait til they open, it's going to be epic.

Soooo I got power back now! Was able to keep my reptiles alive, just barely though, sadly I lost my aquarium, nothing survived in it .

I didn't have my SLR with me but I did record some video on a HD helmet camera, I'll post some screen grabs on here in a bit.

EDIT: Shots below

The view from my front door:

Outside my house:

Another view outside my house:

A yard shot note some broken trees behind the old van there:

The tree on the left is actually in the middle of the driveway, it's the top of a tree that broke and speared into the ground upside down:

Indeed, we're just up here in Mt. Shasta, come take a look, ha ha. Tahoe got hit hard too, not nearly as bad, but still pretty hard. Heard it was declared a state of emergency in SF too?

Yeah, it has been pretty bad down here. Haven't seen anything catastrophic in my immediate area but I have seen my friend's road that was a river of mud and water. Also saw hail a couple times but nothing like that crazy amount of snow!

That is epic indeed! Welcome back!
I love super snow storms, makes me feel primitive! Here in Colorado, we get some wicked storms every couple of years or so. I remember one time my roommate and I lost power for 2 days and we went straight back in time to the caveman era! We burned our bills and junk mail in our fireplace and were completely captivated by the wicked beautiful red flower ...FIRE!

Haha, we melted snow on a gas stove and used it to flush.

Its times like that when people realize that their houses/apartments are actually just oddly shaped caves.........

hmm you guys might think about investing in one of those emergency power generating sets (one that runs of diesel or something)
You can get em over here for under 300$ (the bigger the more $ of course)

Yeah a lot of people around here have them, definitely nice. I actually have a 4.8KW generator that was given to me last month, it is almost brand new, just with a twisted frame, as soon as I get around to fixing that I'll have a nice working generator.

Here's a pic from our local newspaper, demonstrates how much snow there was.

Haha, I chose life in the high mountains my friend. I'm in one of the most beautiful places you can find in the world surrounded by some of the best people I've ever met and I intend to stay. Events like this can be trying, but it's an adventure that's for sure.
