Exactly, not sure what akinhoo is talking about.
Remember that thread months ago where he was complaining that nobody EVER casts non-whites for non-ethnic roles? Yeah, that's exactly what he's complaining about. And ya know what? He's still wrong.

Not ethic enough.

By the way, I just came home from watching Avatar (first and only time), and I'm not impressed. The movie and its "bubble gum look" really annoyed me, and the story really is just another Dancing with Wolves/Pocahontas kind of plot, which kept me from being sucked in. I felt like I had watched the long intro of a computer game after we left the cinema. And it really annoyed me that he became a fully accepted warrior with all the skills within 3 months... should have taken him some years at least.

My gf loved the movie, I was just "meh" on the way back home. She said she's going to watch it again. MEH...

Don't bother. Akinkhoo hates the west because he is brainwashed by his media and is a racist.

am i missing something or did they use a pure white cast for all the "human" character?
They had Sigourney Weaver, and we all know she's an alien...

Avatar plot fail? Does Cameron really care? Avatar has made over $1.4billion worldwide. He holds the rank now for both #1 and #2 most successful film. By the time Avatar releases onto DVD/BluRay it'll probably make another $1+ billion.

Cameron is laughing it up.

Is there an echo in here?

He, his investers and everyone else took a huge punt on the movie - nice to see it paid off!

Avatar plot fail?

Decide for yourself [rofl]

Haha. That was awesome. Avatar was just a retelling of American history involving the native americans with a love story thrown in... making it exactly like an alien version of Pocahontas.

while I do find this extremely amusing, ultimately we can file this under the "doesnt really matter category"............lol

All-Time Worldwide Box office

1. Titanic (1997) $1,835,300,000
2. Avatar (2009) $1,337,046,514

Both James Cameron movies btw..........

And? Britney Spears is a platinum selling artist but it doesn't convince me about the quality of her music.

As soon as I saw the glowing tree with my 3D glasses I thought to myself "oh my word, it's the story of Pocahontas."

Amazing box office results though.

I'm glad someone else sees things with an objective eye.

Oh i know, they are so racist aren't they? Im supirsed they didnt show any black soldiers just slacking off, eating friend chicken and watermelon! [rolleyes]

I thought seeing it in 3D at a nice theater was an amazing experience. I really thought the real world seemed bland...I wanted to live in Pandora. I think the movie deserves a big box office and the praise...for some things.

The plot was timeless...as in, the majority has been told over and over...Dances with Smurfs, Avantontas.....

While it provided me with laughs, the head of security / crazed Marine lead was absurd and completely 1 dimension. I enjoy a popcorn flick, don't take stuff that seriously...but come on.

In fact there was a complete lack of any subtlety or nuance or complex character at all. Yes Jake had some type of a progression, completely and utterly predictable in every way from nearly the first scene.

That's OK though...I mean, if it really did all the things that make a movie great beyond the spectacle, my mind couldn't handle the awesome.

So what? Havent you heard? There are no asians anymore in the year 2154 because of the Big Noodle soup disaster of 2103.

No offence intended my asian friends, I just though his comment was pathetic. I know Asia includes alot more cultures than just Chinese, which dont eat noodles.
