It's an adapted and modified SRB - at the very least the upper segments are completely different - but yes, this very much just a "proof of concept" launch. The final vehicle will be quite different.

the upper segment is just a brick right?

i still think they should have keep the shuttle SRB and just use more of them. 5 years delay is bad considering they got this to work like NOW!
