Knew a guy who had a 327/powerglide combo in his ski boat for a similar reason - was really funny seeing peoples' reaction to it shifting up!
Everyone says it can't be done, but even tossing just a lock up stall behind a boat engine could have benefits.

Run a higher pitch prop, and the stall will do torque multiplication for you, allowing an engine to turn a bigger prop, once on plane the converter could lock, dropping engine RPM and increasing cruising speed.

Maybe i'm not smart enough to see why this hasn't been done yet, but it sure seems like it would work to me.

It may be something to do witht he installed length - he was using a short tailshaft box.
Could have been using an oversized or higher pitched prop, can't remember, sure moved when he hit the throttle, though!

That's a very sweet deal you got there Fruity! [yes]

Can't wait to hear the results you will have with the manual box

I think your GTA is / will be about as fast as my S-body on the quarter mile.

Haven't really had a change to run it as the clutch is slipping
The best run I had was 14.0@165km/h (102.5mph)
Clutch slipping on second gear so much that I had to lift and go slowly again [no]

I really need a stronger clutch, propably ACT Xtreme + a light flywheel. But it costs 650 (955USD)...
