Default Too many potholes in the road? Don't worry it's a "traffic calming" measure
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/essex/8001310.stm

I've never heard of such a stupid idea. Pot holes damage cars and are dangerous to motorcyclists and cyclists. And what about when it's dark and you can't see them? [rolleyes]

Yep, read that earlier.

Why don't we just go back to non-paved roads this way we'll all be even slower!!

[rolleyes]

Not always - when I moved down here there were still a lot of metal (gravel) roads and they were great fun driving a bit quickly - more stable for the car too.

I imagine the potholes would get filled up with hedgehogs pretty soon anyway.

The swear filter will not allow me to express how I feel about this.

Perhaps i should stop paying my council tax to Thurrock council as a "natural I will be richer" measure.

Buy a dictionary and treat yourself to a verb?

Maybe they should leave the dead animals in the roads too?

Atleast the county council have the right idea and are taking charge. This gives way too much ammo to my opinions on parish councillors, full of self importance but without the mental capacity to back it up.

that is one crap idea. you'd have to be such an ignorent prat to think thats a good idea.

if anyone lives in that council area i suggest they drive those roads and sue that stupid council for damage the pot holes have done to their car.

I cant see how this could be legal even from a safety point of view? What if one of those potholes caused a serious accident?

Then the response from the council would be lengthy but would almost certainly contain most, if not all of the following:

'....review of procedures...'

'...limited financial resources....'

'...question of priorities....'

'.... this was an unforeseen tragedy.....'

'.....dangers of speeding.......'

'.....green policies...'

'......nothing to do with me......'

'.....no one will resign.....'

'....where's my expenses form?...'

'...that'll do nicely....'
