Seriously the law is f*cking stupid sometimes...

Quote:

Patrick: "They just broke in and they've been running around in my house and oh look they left the door open with the car. Uh I just drove their car away."

911 Dispatcher: "Don't do that sir! You just stole their car"

Patrick: "Yeah, I know I just stole their car."

911 Dispatcher: "Okay, you can now be charged with that. Stop."

So their gonna charge him for stealing the burglars van, yeah! right!

W*nkers!

He should have just pulled out a gun and shot the f*ckers dead.

That way, you don't waste tax dollars putting them through the courts and sticking them in jail.

Exactly! Screw that. Someone breaks into my house and wants to take my **** I'm gonna take their van. And then I'll go back and club their kneecaps with a baseball bat. IMO criminals don't have rights. They lose those when they break into your house.

We have laws and courts for dealing with criminals and it's they who should do so not vigilantes. That's the way it works in a civilised society.

Going out and punishing people you feel hurt you is one thing, stealing the van they are CURRENTLY using to rob your house is another.

If you read the previous few posts you'll see at least a couple of people advocating violence towards burglars which is what I was referring to.

Actually, (and I could be wrong on this) shooting tresspassers is still allowable in many states (castle doctrine) So these guys may have gotton off lightly compared to what could have happened.

What even if they don't pose a threat or are running away (as in the Tony Martin case)? That's just ridiculous.

Well they shouldn't have robbed your house

I don't care if his back is turned. If he's in my house he's a threat. How do I know what he's planning? Maybe he set his gun down while he was sifting through my stuff, assuming nobody was around. He could run, grab his gun, and shoot me. I'm not willing to take any chances with my life. Until the criminal is outside, and my doors are shut and locked, he's fair game.

Your unquestioning faith in the law depresses me, laws written by fallible humans to control other fallible humans.
It's this 'ridiculous' train of thought that allows Governments all over the world to commit any atrocity they see fit.

Silvio Berlusconi for instance passed a recent law in Italy that makes him essentially un-prosecutable.
How's that right? Yet going by your standards it's perfectly acceptable if passed as law.

I hope when they start arresting innocent people in this country for 'undemocratic thoughts' you're the first bugger under the brain ray.

Are you really serious so you would just let them rob you. Im telling you now if i catch anyone in my house with my family id beat them to an inch of there lives. The reason the world is in such a state now due to people just rolling over to these sort of thugs.

I agree, if someone is committing a a crime, any rights they have should be forfeited while the crime is being committed.

That doesn't give you the right to take the law in to your own hands.

Please don't put words in to my mouth. I never said the law was perfect, I simply said criminals should be dealt with by the justice system which is totally correct, unless you propose living in a society where "justice" is meted out by who ever has the biggest gun.

I didn't say that either. But there is a big difference between simply defending yourself and going over the line in to vigilantism.
