Wow, I have the boxed set of the original and had no idea that there was going to be a remake (thanks to mojo67 for the link to this thread). The thought of a remake of it makes me uneasy, but having McKellan and Caviezel in it and changing the story/politic around to suit modern times might make it interesting...

I hadn't realized it until I read it in one of the articles on him yesterday, but McGoohan played the role of Longshanks in "Braveheart". I never made that connection, didn't recognize him as McGoohan and never read the credits, so that was a surprise for me. Interesting...

Another remake. I'm too young to remember the original, although I have caught glimpses of repeats on TV.

Is that the one with the floating ball that chases everyone? It's a bit like an old fashioned version of Lost.

Aaaaugh - NOOOooooo!

I remember watching the original on our old black and white TV and loving it - too young to understand it, but who cares.
Caught a couple of re-runs of the series on the TV down here and have the series collection.

So, I would hope that if they do go ahead, that they don't make the usual total hash of "updating" it!

Aaarrrggghhhh. not another remake of a classic [no]

I thought the recent remake of Survivors was pretty dire and I don't hold out much hope for this either, I'm afraid. Sorry to be so negative, but to me the current trend for remaking classic films/TV shows is sad. Can't they find any decent new stories to put the money into?

I believe the beeb are also doing an "up to date interpretation" of my favourite "Day of the Triffids" too! The Gits!!! [cursing]

The original series was filmed not far from where I used to live.
I lived at Portmadog and it was filmed in Portmeirion.

Remember a couple of good parties at the beach just below the little village there, when I was a teenager (quite a few years ago, but not quite stone age).
