How long would you leave it before you gave up?
If you kept sending stuff to someone and they didn't reply? Today we received an Xmas card for the previous residents of this house. We have done every year. And we still, occasionally, get post for them and even for the residents before them! The thing is we've been here for 10 years! You'd think they would have given up by now. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/unsure1.gif

I got that kind of crap when I lived at an apartment. Postal service wouldn't return to sender either. So I just threw it away. They gave me some excuse about how they don't return mail just because the named recipient doesn't live there. Sounds like a damned good reason to return it to me.

we're in exactly the same situation. think its been 9 years though. too late to do anything really i suppose.

I get phone calls from a debt collection agency asking for someone I've never heard of. Thing is, no-one else has ever lived here, we moved in just after it was built and that was about 35 years ago http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo.../confused1.gif

I'd mark it as "Not known at this address" and re-post it so Royal Mail can sort it [yes]

Thing is our house was empty for 2 years before we bought it. And when we first moved in we got loads of people come knocking on the door trying to collect money. Its like they were watching our house for 2 years waiting for them to come back [rofl] |
You should write them back and say thank you. Then tell them they've been sending it to the wrong address for the last 10 years. http://www.discussworldissues.com/fo...es/tongue1.gif

I see how this could happen though. For years, every year my grandfather would send hundreds of cards to old friends, customers, and distant family members. He had been doing it for decades and it was a huge family project every year to get it all addressed and sent.
Even as a little kid, I wondered how any of those people were still at those prehistorically old address's, or how many were even alive. Nobody would even think of arguing with my grandfather though, so every year till he died everybody on the list got thier letter. |
