I just been made redundant and my company car has been returned so I thought I'd buy myself a £500 old banger to last for a little while, my missus drives a decent'ish car but we have always wanted a Volvo S60, so on my car hunting journey I just happen to find a Volvo S60 2.5 Ltr Turbo SE, Full Leather, Cruise Control, Climate Control, heated seats etc, and fell in love with it and just PX'd my missus car for it. This isn't the car but it's similar, ours is dark blue with 17" 15 spoke alloy wheels, low profile tyres, 62000 miles FSH with maintanence history and full MOT history, 1 owner from new and all for the princley sum of £2500 or £1000 PX'd with her old Focus. after driving bangers for so long it's nice to finally get a nice car, or at least get her a nice car, I just bought myself a cranky old £500 1997 Ford Escort, now were gonna be fighting over who drives the Volvo.

What year is it? Looks like an 05. at least thats what I hope she was smiling about ![]() One thing I like apart from the ride like floating on a cushion of air is the noise, I can actually hold a normal conversation at normal level like i'm sitting in my living room doing 80 miles an hour, it's so quiet compared to anything I've had before. |

Looks much newer than a 2001, though the price is still amazing. |

Why buy a £500 Escort? You can get a decent condition X reg 2000 Escort Finesse for not much more than that, and they had allot of toys added for free on the final year of production to use up the spare parts. I used to have one. |

That was all I had to spend, to be honest I needed a car quick and this one came up locally and I just jumped in and bought it, it was an old lady that used it to drive her disabled husband but they now got a mobility vehicle so it's not like it's been hammered, I'll only need it for a few months so I'm not to bothered about what car I got, it seems solid enough, starts fine every time, no work needed except maybe the clutch but it'll last me till I get rid of it. |

congrats on your purchase... they really are excellent cars, and surprisingly good value for money (at least until something breaks
![]() I drive a 1995 Volvo 850 2.5... which is basically an earlier version of the motor in your car. Interestingly enough you can trace it's roots back to porsche. When this car finally kicks the bucket I will be looking at an S60 or an S80 myself. Was tempted to go for an updated 850 (the V70), but it's a bit long in the tooth these days. |

That is a sweet Volvo. I love these new Volvo's from 2000+.
My friend just got a Blue 2006 Volvo V50 2.4i, and it is sexy looking. I am not a big fan of the base models with the N/A engines. I drive them from time to time at work, and for how expensive they are new, the interior is weak. Still nice cars though. Though, a Turbo model is a must with Volvo, and kudos to a sexy 2.5L Turbo model. Sad though cause for $2k more, he could have ended up finding an S60R. I would love to get a Volvo V40 myself with the 1.9L Turbo. Got AWD on that sucker? And that is a killer price that you got it for. At least for what it seems in UK money. Something like that would be at least $15k, and that UK money would only be like $5k in the US which is the cost of a V40. |
