Fake! He didn't even throw it that hard. And why would he filming it in the first place?

Very difficult to fake a TV smash like that, its looked real to me and plenty of people film themselves doing all sorts of things.
Maybe the Wii was a present off a distant relative and he was filming himself so that his relatives could then be sent the viideo to see him using it.
Also in the corner of the room is a xmas tree, some baubles on the table top, so I'm assuming it was an xmas present.

I don't really know! But its not improbable!

I did actually think of a new product for Wii users, And that is a plastic or perspex screen that either sits in front of or hangs over the front of the TV screen, that way you could still play the Wii, but any flying controllers would just bounce harmlessly off of the perspex.

You could have it made into any size upto I guess 70" for the largest screens available.
If there was some way of making it light enough to hang off the screen with brackets or straps of some sort, it could even be sold as a dust proof cover for your LCD/Plasma screen etc.

Sounds like it could be a future product, someone will market it eventually.

I dunno. They can be do some very clever things nowadays. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to fake. I've learnt to be extremely suspicious of videos like this I see on the internet. And even if he was filming it for a relative why would the video end up on some YouTube-esque site? If that happened to me you can bet no one would ever see the video.

He definitely threw it with enough force to damage a LCD like that.

I think you are being overly skeptical.

It takes an incredibly small amount of force to crack a LCD screen. And once the substrate is compromised, the entire picture goes out.

Anyways, there's nothing fake about that video at all. It's not like this is the first time it's happened.

Another example ^

Yeah, that site has a ton of great examples. It has been a while since I have been there.

Fortunately in that specific case the guy has a rear projection screen so it will be a lot easier and cheaper to replace the screen rather a LCD panel.

Yeh...

Maybe he figures he'll get famous [rofl]. Insurance for accidental damage on a TV isn't anything major. I smelt a fake the second i saw him throw it.

..but who knows.

What seems to be a somewhat mentally slow individual set up a camera to make what looks like a candid video of him destroying a TV with his Wii remote but not until he either employed a visual effects artist to make it look real or the whole time he was scheming to commit insurance fraud. The whole calling his mom was to just add to the realism and to make him even more famous for being the slow guy breaking a LCD with a Wii remote on the internet.

Now i know what your thinking....but this could be the smartest thing he's ever done! [help]

or.

"Mentally slow individual" walks into electronics shop and he's spotted by excited sales man. He's then sold a TV with extra 50 year "piece of mind" warranty and $100000000 cover against damages.

A few months down the line one of his more intelligent friends thinks of an idea....the rest is what we see.

Well i don't know....it just looks fake

Regardless he's a 30ish wearing pajamas; playing wii and filming himself....Probably not all together in the first place. Sucks to be him and the person either paying or who paid for that TV. Gotta use the strap!!!

What's wrong with a 30-year-old wearing pyjamas and playing with his Wii (oo err missus)?
