Who's got em, or likes them? Be it for collecting, regular EDC use, or on the job. I don't have pics ATM - but I can't find the mum's camera.
I've got a Buck Hilo http://www.knife.com/product_p/179.htm Benchmade Rolling Lock http://www.knife.com/product_p/bm12205s.htm and for a fixed blade - outdoors camping use I've got a Buck DiamondBack Outfitter http://www.knife.com/product_p/479bk.htm I've got a few small lockback knives, and a cheap 30 buck assisted opener, but they don't get used much.. |

When sitting at my computer, with in arms reach, i have roughly 14 different knives, from throwing knives to small pocket knives, to large ones just shy of the legal limit to cary, to ones that have a leather sheeth on them. Now i also have 6 swords, and a machete in the closet also. I also have some other misc blades that aren't really swords or regular knives. but are nice non the less Not going to go in what i have in the kitchen. [no]

My 3 favorites are my anodized black aluminum Kershaw Leek, my Buck Tempest with ATS-34 steel, and my stainless steel Leek. *edit Here's a quick shot of the ZDP since I had it with me- great daily carry since it's light as a feather and the ZDP steel keeps and edge for ever (just have to keep it clean since it is prone to pitting) too bad that didn't make a larger run of them, although I do have one brand new in the collection at hme. ![]() |

We're not allowed knives longer than a 3 inch blade, cos apparently we're all raving lunatics , according to the government.
But even if you have a knife with a blade of 3 inches or less you still have to have a good reason for why you have one in a public place, should the Police do a random search. I can understand that sort of mentality where children or teenagers are in possession of a knife, But most "men" have at one time or another carried a knife, because of its practical uses, besides sticking people with it. Anyway, I carried a Balisong, as a teenager, as I was a keen hunter, camper, survivalist etc and the handle and blade was 440 stainless steel, Not the best for keeping a keen edge, but good enough for throwing in a bucket of bleachy water after gutting 80+ rabbits. And the Blade was very thick, so it was good for using as a pry tool. I lost it, at a beach party when I was about 21 yrs old, and I never got over its loss. ![]() Such a worthy companion it was! Here's one like it... ![]() Mine was not as good as this one above, but it was a lot longer and a lot heavier, I bought it when a friend and I visited Carnaby Street in London, Whilst there on a short stay, We found the shop by accident, just window shopping and we found a weird curio type shop and in the massive basement they had a real Sherman tank that was on display and in glass cases around the tank were 1000's of different knives and swords etc. A paid about £30 for the Balisong and it was money well spent, as the knife lasted me years. A few years later I spent about £250 ( a massive amount for me, back then) and bought a Cold Steel Master Tanto, Which had a 6 inch blade that was Razor Sharp and was almost indestructable! http://www.coldsteel.com/fixed-blades-tanto-series.html This was truely an amazing knife and over the years that I had it, I used it for all manner of jobs, cutting down trees (YES, trees!), slicing through ropes, I even once used it to cut through some 1/4" steel rope and there were only some small scratches to the blade, no chips or nicks or anything. Mostly the knife accompanied me on my hunting trips over the years, and since at one time I made my living as a Pest Controller (shooting rabbits, squirrels, rats, Magpies, crows etc) The need for a good strong knife that always had a keen edge was something I heavily relied upon. Whether I needed to throw together a quick hide from stuff laying about or to make a shooting rest and dozens of other little jobs, One of note was finding a sheep that had somehow managed to completely get itself tangled in a blackberry bush, so that its entire circumferance was knotted with brambles, and disingaging the thing from this mass of "thorny rope" would have left me covered in scratches and wounds etc, But the tanto gave me a bit of needed "reach" and helped to cut through each strand (of which there were dozens) with one swipe. Had I used a pen knife, I would have been hacking away until the following day. [rofl] Still took a good hour to release the bloody sheep, cos the dumb thing struggled like it thought I was trying to do it harm, instead of release it from what would have been its eventual starvation and ultimate death. Animals, eh!, No bloody sense! [cursing] |

This thread makes me miss my old job a little...when I used to get to go through the Blue Ridge Knives book whenever I was bored. [surrender] I miss the days of the $20-30 Kershaw closeout specials from them. |

Those are all great knives! I'd like to get a leek, but I think I'd rather have a BM Griptillian or perhaps a Endura (Spyderco.) I like axis/rolling/whateverelse type locks, and Spyderco's are always cool to have! How does that black aluminum hold up against corrosion? Spyderco makes great knives, too. I was going to get a tiny one for my keychain, but we closed up shop before I could place that order. ![]() |

I have that in silver with the combo edge, I got sick of my knifes wearing out and dying every few years, So I broke down and bought something expensive for myself. Before that I used to carry a Kershaw, payed good money for it, like $45 and it was an inferior POS, fell apart in less than 2 years, meaning it died quicker than all the Gerber and Buck knifes that came before it, I used to carry an Oldtimer http://www.knivesplus.com/oldtimerknife-sc-108ot.html which was a good knife, but very prone to staining on the blade. I stopped after my grandfather died, and put my knife and his identical knife that I got him for his birthday one year away. |
