Theere an internal system that pumps oxygen to the higher floors. Besides I heard the high floors are gonna be used for exclusive partys and stuff so no one will be living up there.
Would love to see more pics of the insides More info http://www.burjdubai.com/ (its got its own condensation cycle!!) |

The builderes have to wear oxygen masks coz the air is soo thin up there. Ive drove past it, it is breathtaking indeed. Shame the sky is always hazy this tme of the year so you cant the structure from a distance |

Your joking right? I didn't think the air would be thin enough to have to wear oxygen tanks from that height. How are people meant to live/sleep on the top floors? Regardless of how much thinner the air is outside of the building, the pressure inside the building will be monitored and controlled. The Burj Dubai has one of the most innovative climate-controlled systems in this world, pressure, temperature, fresh air mixture, humidity, etc are controllable via one main network based PC front end. Hell, even the elevator system and controls were custom designed.and probably the most sophisticated in the world. |

Sounds like an urban myth. The tower is defintely not that high, and the base is built practically at sea level. The highest actual usuable floors are around 630 meters. At least 10% of the population of the planet lives over 1000m according to studies such as this. Most people can cope fine without acclimation periods or adverse effects upto 3000m. So yeah, it is pure (false) urban myth... |

It could stand up but for how long I don't know. Like you said the base is to small and the building do sway and if that building swayed a little to much which can happen its by-by. ![]() |

lol, back in the day. did u know the pyramids was the world tallest structures? its interesting to see some old ideas coming back. but thinking about , its just obsurd to build something that tall for no reason. ![]() |

From what i know no one has touched the top of the site for awhile now because no one could survive the thin air on top. kinda funny and makes you see just how arrogant these guys are, trying to build something like that without thinking it through thoroughly.
All i can see every time i pass through that building are two empty cranes on top, and i havent heard any progress about it for a long time now. |

A building that big needs a hell of a lot of pipes, wires, and ventilation. |

The tower would have to be at least 5, but more likely closer to 8 kilometers high for that to happen |

Current height of top of construction = 640m (roughly). Elevation of construction site = ~20m (above sea level). Average sea level air pressure at Dubai = 1010mb (a guess really but it won't be too far out). Air pressure at 660m above Dubai = 936mb (again, a rough calculation). Drop in pressure = 7.3 %
Too much to cope with? I drive at altitudes greater than that every single day! ![]() |

im not really sure how high it is but just imagine, anywhere i go (well, almost anywhere) i can see that thing's silohuette :\ best of luck to those guys building it when winter kicks in.. visibility gets really really low |

Hell, some people climb Mount Everest and don't use bottled oxygen, and that's at 29,000 feet. |
