Oh god I just got propper fcuked by a Virgin support ***** [no]

My internet stopped working today, as did a friends who lives local, phoned VM and after half an hour of checking through everything she asked me to she asked me to open device manager and click on "network adaptors". She then asked me to read out what it said below it so I said "Nvidia nforce networking controller", "YOU HAVE NO NETWORK CARD" she bellowed at me lol love, run that one by me again!? She was adamant I had no network card (you have no lan ports" she exclaimed "in that case dear, can you explain to me what I have the ethernet cable plugged into then?" I asked.
Anyway, to cut a long story short, after explaining to the stupid bint what an Nforce networking controller was she then proceeded to tell me, very loudly, that I have no drivers installed and there is nothing she can do for me as their system is working fine! I was losing the will to live by this point but after argueing with her for a while I said to her "well, I tell you what, whilst I am on the phone to you now I wil uninstall the drivers I have installed, which you claim I dont, and install the drivers again whilst you are talking to me" this I did and it still didnt work and she basically said I have to "contact my pc manufacturer as my pc is broken" [yawn] I put the phone down, left the modem unplugged for 5 minutes and now its working again.

Stupid bloody woman! (and she coul hardly speak a word of English too which didnt help!)

Default Most unique tech support response ever....
So last night I couldn't get online, I did the usual stuff, reset my modem, checked connections, tried a different PC.

So reluctantly I called Virgin Media tech support, explaining I couldn't get online and that only my power light was on and the others were just flickering. The tech's reply:

"Sorry, we cannot help with your connection unless you're online, please call back when you're connected."

Even if i did have a cable service available to me again id never ever use vigin, they are utter utter retards.

I hate Indian broken english call centers I thought all businesses figured out that people would rather pay more not to have that annoying crap.

The tech's reply:

Part of the reason I binned my 8mb connection, sent a letter of complaint to both Virgins HQ and one to Ofcom, and threatened Virgin with sueing if they didn't cancel the Ј100 I allegedly owed them for a cancelled contract and 4 months of a none working contract that saw me routinely connecting at 20Kb/s (thats connecting, NOT download speed).

Paying Ј24 a month for that connection was utter torture.

Haven't looked back since I migrated to Fast.co.uk for Ј34 a month, 8mb connection, regularly hit 800Kb/s download and thats risen to over 1Mb/s some times.

You pay for what you get.

wierd as they could atleast check your URBS and the power levels of the cabinet in your street, you probably just got a noob who doesnt even know how to check if theres any problems reported in your area.

at the very least they should have scehduled a tech visit.

virgins tech support newsgroup is best there english people on there who know what there doing unlike the indian call centre but you have to be able to get online to use that service obviously.

btw i phoned up virgins retentions the other day with an empty promise to quit lol, got 35 quid/month knocked off my package (TV , landline and cable) so im essentially getting 20mbit for free

they said its for life to lol ive been with blueyonder for about 6 years so i guess they didnt want to lose a loyal customer

I had something similar happen to me when I was trying to get DSL hooked up in my new apartment. I got home the day it was scheduled to be hooked up and online, only to find a note on my door from a Verizon Tech saying there was a problem and they needed access to the apartment. Didn't leave any call-back number so I called the 800 number. Yeah that was a mistake.

I tried explaining to the Indian lady what the problem was (while I was at work the next day mind you) and just said that I didn't know what the problem was, but apparently the tech needed to figure something out. She said she couldn't help me with connection issues unless I was at my computer. Umm, OK.

Finally, I decided to call up the local office and got a hold of a real American lol. But she said she could have a tech out to look at the problem, but I would have to pay $99 for it. I bitched, and they decided to waive the fee, but then they said they couldn't have someone out for a week and a half. Keep in mind this was just before I was taking a week's vacation from work just so I could relax at home and get some good PC time in lol. So I said sure, go ahead. Hung up with them and called up Comcast, and had someone out the very next morning with my cable setup. F*** Verizon!

Yeah i laugh everytime at that too

Nearly as good as the Chinese exchange student we had. They all choose english names to make life a little easier here and he was called Bruce. It was epic.

Tell me about these crappy indian tech support people. The guy couldn't even say bios correctly, and then when trying to "blame my computer for the issue and not the monitor" he said that if i see the lines i see on the screen in the bios it's a monitor problem and not my computer. But what in the hell would going into the bios do? I mean if it's my video card ( like the idiot was trying to blame the problem on) then wouldn't the problem show up in the bios also? I swear, hp's tech support is extremely lame. these days.

Comcast says the samething to me if they already know that the problem isn't with the cable line that is strung across the roads.
Only way for them to figure out what is going on is if the Cable Modem is connected still. If it isn't, over the phone they can't do sh/t other then maybe send out tech support that may or may not come that day since we are so far out.
