Default Need movie recommendations
I got surgery tomorrow so I'm having a bit of time off, as there's no rental shop near me I've just joined blockbusters online and as it's been years since I seen a decent film, I need modernising and recommendations.

Love movies like Matrix, Transporter, Godzilla, Aliens, Jurrasic Park, Pirates of the Caribbean, Rambo, Die Hard, Lethal Weapon etc, don't mind a good comedy either, I even enjoyed Shaun of the dead.

Hates, Romcoms (Just the word sends shivers down my spine), gross horrors.

I've just started with Jumper as thats a film I been waiting to see for a while.

So, any sudgestions would be very welcome and urgently needed.

Cheers
Dan

Download 4oD if you haven't already, there's quite a lot of a good comedy series (just watched The Inbetweeners) and a few nice brit movies on there like The Long Good Friday, Mona Lisa, This is England and Withnail and I. A few well known Hollywood films there too.

Download them, don't stream as there's a huge difference in quality between the two.

If you must rent, try Shooter for action or Hot Fuzz if you liked SOTD.

All worth a watch and modern opposed to the tripe already suggested.

Pan's Labyrinth! One of the best movies I've ever seen, if you don't mind watching a foreign-language film, I'm sure you'll agree.

Oh and based on the list of 'likes' you provided I'd recommend: Cloverfield, The X-Men Trilogy, The Terminator Trilogy, Batman Begins (and even the old ones by Tim Burton if you're in for a laugh) & Bad Santa (but only if you don't mind foul language and aren't easily offended).
