Default Boom: Headshot
This guy fires a shot, and the ricochet knocks off his ear-muffle.

Lucky man...

Meh, it's not really that interesting if you do the math. [yawn]

I timed it from the point when the bullet hits the target to when it hits the guy, and it's about 1.5 seconds. At 100 yards, that means the slug was traveling an average of ~200 feet per second on the return trip.

To put that in perspective, a modern air rifle (BB gun) projectile velocity is usually in the range of ~450+ feet per second. The .50 cal gun he was shooting has a velocity of 2,930 feet per second.

Not to mention that it bounced off the ground right before it hit his head, which probably reduced its speed to under 100 fps.

Sooooo, in summary...it looks a lot more dramatic than it really is. At the most, it would have left a barely noticable wound (unless it hit him in his eye, but any projectile in the eye is bad news). [xmascandle]

Um the whole point is that he got lucky. It could have ricocheted back at him at a much higher velocity.

I don't give a damn about your mathematics, it was simply astonishing that he survived that and it managed to just miss his head. Also its unbelievable that a .50 Cal ricocheted like that, I want to know WHAT IN THE HELL he was shooting at that caused an armor piercing round to bounce back.

I'm sorry, but if you see this vid and not be amazed by simply how lucky this guy is to have not been shot, then I have to question your approach to everything. Maths and what not.

That was unbelieveable!

A .50 cal bullet's mass is alot more than an aluminium air rifle pellet.

.50 cal = 200fps x 800grams

Air rifle = 450 x 2grams

Now tell me which one you would rather have hit you. The fact his headset was knocked of shows the bullet had alot more inertia than an air rifle shot.

All this is besides the point, as a kid I was often harmlessly struck by a rebounding air rifle pellet when shooting from 15 yards. But to shoot your own headset of like this is a whole new feat.

Note, I have no idea of the actual weights, someone feel free to state the actual figures.

edit, just saw this in related videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQyIL...eature=related a 'good old american boy'
