Should be a good lunch!

I'm off to the UK next month for a mates wedding - so as we are passing through London the day before, I though I'd treat my wife to lunch at The Maze Restaurant:

http://www.gordonramsay.com/maze/

Their chef Jason Atherton is currently competing in "The Great British Menu" - a UK TV show / competition, which we have been following each week:

Simply put, his food looks fantastic. I can't wait until I get to sample it personally. http://discussworldissues.com/forums...s/biggrin1.gif

Not at all. The TV show is where top chefs from all over the country compete to cook a meal in London for top chefs from all over the world - to showcase modern British cooking.

There are plenty of food shots on the website if you select the more pics option on some of the pages. It looks more like art than food!

It's a great place to eat, have had lunch there a few times as well as chef's table both there and at Petrus. Great chefs, great atmosphere and most of all great food.

It's actually fatastic value for money when you think of all of the development that has gone into the food.

I have to say that was probably the best meal I've ever had. A four course "taster" lunch that was simply amazing. I even managed to meet Jason atherton after the meal and shake his hand

Seriously, if you go to London, treat yourself and have a meal at Maze.

I came across this video the other day and plan on using it this weekend. Looks scrumptious!

Gordon is a brilliant chef, but I wish his shows would focus more on the actual dishes and less on kitchen drama. Also, I think the producers deliberately pick the most incompetant contestants for Gordon to abuse. Where do they find chefs who can't even perform the most basic tasks like cooking a steak medium-rare or preping a chicken? [rofl]

Gordon is freaking amazing. I just had dinner at his West Hollywood restaurant on June 2nd (At the London West Hollywood, the restaurant just opened on May 27th!) and in January I had dinner at his other United States restaurant in New York City. Both times I had the tasting menus and they are just amazing. Everything is perfect, from the service to the food to the atmosphere. I really can't wait to return to his restaurant now that there is one on the West Coast (slightly closer to where I live, only like 1,000 miles away, not ~3,000 http://discussworldissues.com/forums...ies/laugh1.gif)

I was really surprised by the price in Los Angeles. I think the tasting was $85 for six courses and I had a wine flight with them (four wines and one sake were paired with them) for another $42 or something. I think all said and done I walked away at about $170, which considering in NY I paid about the same price per person and I only got a single glass of wine I was pretty happy! I hope it doesn't jump much when he gains a star or two.

I just need to effing find someone to dine at these amazing places with me! [cursing]
