Default Need new tyres!
215/50 R17 with V pattern or
205/50 R17 with V pattern

I checked a few brands, but couldnt find the Goodyear Eagle F1 I had a couple of years ago. They were awesome. Since there are so many chinese tyre makers out there these days its pretty hard to seperate the good/safe ones from the bad. Low noise and performance on wet tarmac are my priorities.

The tyre should be rated for 220km/h (~137mph) at least.

Any ideas?

Ive got 235/45/17 Michelin Primacys on my A4, they grip very well in the wet and are very quiet for road noise.
I had Dunlop SP6000's (I think thats correct ) on before and they were noisy as hell.

New tyres already though? Youve only had the V50 a couple of weeks haven't you?

Got some Kumho KH11's on my car. Compared to the old Pirelli P6000's (yes, they're god awful tyres), it's leaps and bounds over the old Pirelli's. They do a fantastic job to make a fairly refined car ALOT quieter with minimal road noise and they offer alot more grip than my old Pirelli's. They seem very hard wearing too. In the wet, they do lose a bit of grip, but it's still good enough.

Don't be put off by the brand - look up on the internet and you'll find they're very good tyres for the price. 4 tyres for less than £200 including fitting - I can't complain when the tyres are excellent.

Yeah but I want the V pattern because it looks so cool. Already have a buyer for my current tyres.

Well, summer only, daily driving, mostly long distance (Autobahn), so at high speeds.

Parada Spec 2s. I think they look better than V patterns.

Could always go for Toyo T1R's. I heard they're very good and my friends whom all have fast cars recommend them.

I have been running Bridgestone Potenza RE-01R on my car and love them! They have a lot more grip then the Kumho Ecsta ASX that was on there before. Don't know if they are enough of a V pattern for you though.

Just got myself a set of cooper tyres for the old volvo. Normally cooper specialize in off road... but I have to say from a purely value for money perspective these are some really good tyres.

I got a puncture requiring I replace my perfectly good Pirelli front's and the local shop recommended some coopers.

I was sceptical being unfamiliar but WHAT a difference. There was nothing wrong with the pirelli's but the coopers just grip, dry and wet it's like a new car.

I'm very happy with my purchase.

2 X Cooper Zeon XTC's £80 fitted

Thats because your comparing a max performance summer tire to an all season performance tire.

Si, but the difference in ratings between the two are not huge, I was not expecting that big of a difference.

Also the Kumho's are Ultra high performacne all seasons, not your everyday all season tire.

I already have winter tyres and in Germany you usually need them only for a week or two per year.

So I really just want summer high performance tyres. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Michelin Pilot Sport Cup. Exceptional tyres, but not V-tread.

True, but have you tried the RE-01R's at 30degrees F? The compound on the all seasons will work fine in cold weather. The Potenza's on the other hand will be like driving on bricks. My ecsta MX's get pretty damn hard in the mid-40's.

also, the treadwear on the RE-01R's is 180/140 depending on the size while the ASX has a 420 rating.

*edit*

oh and Streif, good job on running dedicated winters [thumbup]
