Trying to get my Ipod Classic with all my music (formerly connected to my PC) to dump all the music on to my new Macbook. It only recognizes the purchases I've made through Itunes and nothing else. Is there a good program to work around this problem?

Can you check the "manually manage" option in iTunes on the ipod tab? If so you can pull the music down.

If that doesn't work do a search, there are plenty of programs that will allow you to copy the music from the drive.

Well, the new Macbook doesn't recognize the Ipod. I still need to restore it on the PC and then hook it up to the Mac in order to change the format from Windows to Mac.

In the meantime - I would like to use the Ipod to transfer the music to the Mac first. Before I restore.

Search for a program called iDump. You can copy all the contents from the ipod to your Mac providing they've made iDump for OSX as well.
