I might just get that one. 4000dpi and it's black and blue to boot. Thanks. |

I'd recommend the DeathAdder over the Lachesis myself. Having used both I found the DA much more comfortable to hold, the Lachesis's design seemed to be more for style and awe then ergonomics. Plus while it's 4000 DPI it's also a laser mouse, which I find just aren't as responsive / accurate. |

I have to disagree! This is the MOST comfortable mouse I have ever used. Also It is extremely responsive. Why would it being a laser or infrared make that big of a difference? |

I honestly can't remember / know why, except that while Laser succeeded Optical for a while and boosted DPI figures massively, all the mice seemed to suffer from tracking problems, or felt just plain weird. Reading the stuff on the ESReeality Mousescore makes me think it's something to do with laser having a lower G movement threshold, meaning if you use a relatively low sensitivity and move your mouse quickly it may not go haywire as the old original mice did, but it will not track consistently, impacting accuracy.
Also the Lachesis is unusable on Soft Surfaces according to Anandtech, this never affected myself as I only use hard surfaces (Steelpad S&S and Steelpad SP) on which both mice worked just fine, I just prefered the Death Adder. I still have a laser mouse, a VX Nano for my laptop which is a lovely little mouse. Interestingly it's laser and supposedly has the same DPI as my old MX510, and while it's lovely for using as a laptop mouse, it really can't hold a candle to the old 510, for whatever reason. It's just not as good. Ofc with mice it's nearly all personal preference imo. 4000 DPI, 1600 DPI ... it's all overkill. I went from a MS3.1 -> MX510 and I noticed a difference. The 510 tracked noticeably better, however when I then moved onto the Deathadder really the main difference was that I preferred the shape (it's the same as the old MS3.1). The tracking was no better or worse in my eyes, I simply ended up lowering the sensitivity in games. Interestingly the Microsoft Habu and Razer Death Adder are identical in physicality, this is because they worked together to produce the Habu. Razer then made it's version of the mouse with an Optical engine, vs the Laser which in the Habu. If you check out reviews or ESReality Mousescore I think it shows that currently Optical really is superior to Laser. |
