Default Online scammer owned... no, i mean he is getting PWNED!!!!!!
I just found this linked from my car message board. This summary by the owner of SVTP does a great job in summarizing.

Here is a link to the original thread. I had to sign up to read it, but this guy is truly owned.

http://www.svtperformance.com/forums...d.php?t=459242

One of the greatest things I've read in a long time.

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Travis Hill. I am the owner of an automotive enthusiast?s webforum called SVTPerformance (www.svtperformance.com). Recently one of our members, Steve Prusak (?sprusak1?) a police officer from KY, was taken advantage of by an online scam artists. In his search for relief he sought help in a forum on our site that is dedicated to helping people with minor legal problems. Many of the posters in this forum are law enforcement officers (?LEOs?), and they attempt to help the other members as much as possible.

So when the victim posted his problem, along with what little information he had about the scammer, other LEOs were quick to help. In short order members had found the scammer?s name, address, telephone number, date of birth, driver?s license number, social security number, and pictures of him. Some members even drove by his house to take pictures of it and his car. It was also discovered that there is a warrant issued for his arrest (in his home state of NJ) and it appears a local police officer lives on the same street as him. The local police have been made aware of his activities as it appears that he has scammed others recently as well.

Other members also found the scammer?s MySpace page and sent him messages along with a link to the thread discussing his alleged crimes. The scammer then joined our site and posted what amounts to an admission of guilt. He eventually begged the person he scammed to call off the other members and ask them to stop posting his information. However, new information is still being discovered and updates are continuously being made.

Since then the link to this thread has spread to hundreds of other forums across the internet and it is quickly becoming an online phenomenon. People are basically tired of seeing online scam artists take advantage of others and this thread seems to give them a sense of justice being served. I am proud and honored to see the online community come together in a common pursuit of justice. In this situation the predator truly has become the prey.

I suggest you read through the thread for yourselves. It has been growing quite rapidly and is becoming longer by the minute. In less than four days this story has been viewed over 46,000 times as of 11:00am EST. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them or provide any further information I can.

Sincerely,

Travis Hill ________

Yeah... the sign up sucks, but it's worth it. I think they had to do that to limit views. There is discussion about the server being upgraded for that thread alone.

I made it to page 38.... lots of new people adding to much junk. I'm trying to scroll down to the next significant change.

So far these guys have is phone number, home address, posted pictures of his house, have several screen names he uses, his AIM info, social security number, full name, they know of several other people that have been scammed by him, found out the deputy police chief lives across the street from him... so much more.

This guy must be freaking out. They have even found some personal internet adds and... well... this guy must be freaking out. Maybe he's in jail now... don't know, I haven't made it to the end.

So instead of just calling the cops and turning over the information they probably have had his identity stolen 100s of times over. Yay for being no better then he was!

I'm all for things like the P-P-PowerBook and all for getting legal action involved but past that and you have to question what you're doing...

Sounds too much like vigilantes. Poeple who want others to live by the law, but then are unhappy the law doesn't protect them and then take matters into their own hands.

my understanding is that while they know his personal info, he doesn't care.

he isn't 'pwned', they have just collated a load of freely available information into 1 thread, something any of us could do.

he may become pwned if someone shows at his door and gives him a pasting, but nobody will risk that after this kind of exposure, as it would be a vigilante attack.

a lot of people getting a bit over-excited

So far it is becoming a major let down. I have not made it the end, and I'm only a few days into the incident, but at page 65 there is hardly any news.

Also, this guy has been scamming many people and has eluded everyone until now. I do not see what the problem is with putting the smack down on him.

He has admitted to several crimes, shows pictures of possibly stolen merchandise and his 'gansta' pics of him flashing large amounts of cash.

I hope he goes to jail, otherwise he'll just think he's a badass and famous; bragging to his wanna-be gangsta friends.

But WAAAAY to much bullshit in that thread.

Police don't interpret the law, they enforce it.
