IPv6 is a done deal now! Big news release this week.

Internet routers will be upgraded to IPv6 as will many ISP's have to upgrade to IPv6. It will still be a while before IPv6 transitions into the home.

So buy some shares in Cisco or Juniper! [shocked]
Glad I have an IPv6 router and compatible OSes. [thumbup]

It's not going to matter to you in the immediate future. This will only impact internet routing and the ISP's attached. The IP address that will be delivered to yourself will still be IPv4. The idea in the end is that every single electronic device has its own IPv6 address.

Directv has somewhere around 70 HD channels right now and they claim 100 channels at the end of the year. Even with my current service where I have around 20 HD channels a lot of the content isn't HD unless it is only a few years old. So even if all channels were HD there would be a lot of standard definition content playing on them.

That is one really nice thing about HD DVD and Blu-ray not only are there a ton of titles out for both formats, they are even better quality than broadcast HD.

Only free to air television is HD here and not all shows are in HD but an awful lot are. It really annoys me that my pay tv (Foxtel satellite) isn't HD. I hope that they get it HD very soon.

Very good, I can get all the channels with just an analogue antenna. Mind you I am in a good position from the main broadcast antenna for the city.

Do you have CNN-HD? I noticed them mention that this was the first HD broadcast they'd done of a shuttle launch but we don't have CNN-HD yet. God knows why.

Well as of Feb 2009 the US law states that all channels must broadcast digitally, not necessarily in HD, but I would say that by 2009 there should be a lot more HD content available.

Didn't they just push that deadline back, again?

To further extend scoobs response...

Aussies are tight arse bastards and most don't believe paying for TV. So our free OTA signal stations are of reasonable quality. We still like to bitch about them, but the quality of our stations in comparison to the US seem to be higher, but you have more stations. Quantity over quality in the US.

Also our free OTA digital stations are all launching new HD channels with extra content! So I hope this will improve the TV content a lot, as currently things are a bit crazy with that stations bidding for things like sports which require 100% coverage in the contracts and so that pushes TV shows out of the way.

Feb 2009 was still the deadline as of at least a month ago.
