I just had the following annoying discussion with my webhosts online support chat:

Chris: I just purchased an additonal year. in my control panel its now showing my domain expiry date as 08-03-2009, however in the confirmation email I received, it says the new expiry date is 8/3/2010.
Adolph Kent: Okay.
Chris: Can you advise the reason for the difference, and which date is in fact correct. I recall extending by 2 years not so long ago, and I think that extension has not been registered correctly, as I was surprised to see I needed to extend again when I checked today.
Adolph Kent: I have updated the changes in your Domain Central. Now you will be able to see the changes.
Chris: Now my web control panel is also showing 8/3/2010. But why would it be 2 years longer than before I extended today, when I only extended for one year?
Adolph Kent: Can you please check the changes again?
Chris: did my previous extension not register correctly?
Chris: Its showing 08-03-2010.
Adolph Kent: Your domain expires on picturepunk.com expires on Aug 3, 2010..
Chris: I think my previous 2 year extension did not register correctly, so it was showing as having expired on 08-03-07, which is why I just purchased a 1 year extension today. Now its showing 3 years more than what it did earlier today..... something went wrong in your systems I think
Chris: I would not have purchased an additional year today if my expiry date had been showing correctly as 08-03-09 instead of 08-03-07!
Adolph Kent: Okay.
Chris: either way I guess I'm not going to make an issue out of it, as I need this domain anyway - at least you have updated the expiry date correctly now.
Adolph Kent: You're welcome!
Adolph Kent: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?
Chris: No Stop acting like you bloody helped me. You just got an extra 15 bucks from me because your stupid system did not show the correct expiry date for my domain registration.... [rolleyes]
