Default BT reconnection fee
Hiya, im moving into a new flat in a few weeks and am trying to get the phone line re-activated. The previous tenants were with Talk Talk and they cancelled their contract when they moved out. When i phoned up BT to get the line reconnected they said I will have to pay a £120 reconnection fee. However ive been looking round on the internet and some places say you only have to pay that if there physically isnt a BT line in your house.

Has anyone here got any experience with going back to BT after being on Talk talk and did they have to pay the fee.?

Thanks a lot.

Should just be a return to donor for BT and that's free. The £120 cost is to physically install a new line.

I went back from Bulldog/C&W recently which shouldn't be any different to your scenario.

Call BT and explain that physical reconnection is not needed, as you have a line in place already.

If they still say the charge applies then threaten to go to a competitor. They'll drop the charge soon enough once they hear that.

Ok BT are still insisting the fee stands as talk talk have altered the line. Im thinking of going with Buldog instead anyone got experience with them.
