Default This is why you don't PO your pet Tarantula...
So - we have a beautiful rose hair tarantula, I have affectionately named Fluffy. Most of the time, she is totally docile, and will let you hold her all day if you want. But, yesterday, she wasn't in as good a mood; she let us know that she was not wanting to be bothered...

The fangs you see are over a quarter inch long; and yes, venomous. Thankfully, the venom only hurts, and is rarely lethal. But sill, I will avoid getting on that side of her again.. [thumbup]

Anyway, just wanted to share! I know lots of you hate spiders (BTW- we own two other tarantulas; one adult, one baby), so i figured you would get a kick out of this...

About 11 years ago I lived in a student house and the girl in the room above had a chilean rose and she let it have the run of the room after making sure all possible escape holes had been sealed.

One morning she rushed down stairs in a state of panic, as she had had an unfortunate encounter with her spider that morning and the tarantula had flicked some hairs from its abdomen into her face and she had had an allergic reaction, Her face had swelled up to about double its previous proportions and she was having trouble breathing, A friend drove her to the local hospital and after some treatment, which I guess involved an anti histamine or anti venom, she was allowed home, but it still took several days for the swelling to go down completely.

I've always disliked spiders, and especially so after being seated on her sofa one day watching TV, when the spider crawled across my arm and hand, The shock of seeing this hairy monster scuttling over my naked skin, almost made me jump up and jump out the open window,
A height of 3 stories, being more appealing than this "thing of nightmares".

Anyway, after my mates little run in with her "friend", she looked like the picture below.
