I've read the wiki's about it but still i dont entirely understand it.
The mobile provider i currently use supports HSDPA.. now do i need some special subscription to use a HSDPA network? Or does it use HSDPA whenever your phone supports it?

it doesnt need a special subscription, but you need a phone that supports it and it will only work in the area with that kind of coverage

Ok, but then the wiki's talk about "always online" etc...
would this mean i have 3.6mbit internet for free?? considering i have to pay 15€ per 1mb on GPRS atm

Its a bit of both matey... I'm on HSPDA now... Yes you'll get it if you dont subscribe (in most cases) but they'll charge you for what ever you use..

In my case I've paid 12 quid extra to have 3gig allowance per month

Just some extra info:

2.5G = GPRS
3G = UMTS
3.5G = HSDPA

HSDPA supported speeds can exceed a certian amount, although ultimately it will come down to the network itself. Since I work in the industry I can give, as an example of what speeds are supported in the UK. T-Mobile supports speeds of up to 1.8Mbit on their network.

But on my providers site they only mention subscriptions for internet usage.. and the basic one is 7.50€ a month and gives 0MB data usage..and 1.50€ per MB

I pay a flat fee of about £8 to T-Mobile for unlimited HSDPA usage. Tis great to plug my laptop into my phone when I'm out and about and browse at broadband speeds.
