Oh come on you cynics! Transformers was always aimed at kids surely? I know I enjoyed it. Transformers was and always was a cynical ploy by Hasbro to sell toys. Get all nostalgic if you like but realistically this looks like the characters design for Clone Wars and that show ****ing rocked.

Artistically, it looks like its done by the guy who did Samurai Jack..

But still, for the transformers (which aren't supposed to have shapely waistlines) this looks like crapo...

Well at least Optimus Prime looks better than in the movie, where he basically has nothing to do with what he looked like in the 80s series.
Whatever... he is still red and blue and a semi truck.

It sounds to me like they are retargeting the series before I would say it was targeted at say 10~14 year olds, this looks like it's targeted at 4~8 year olds. It sounds like instead of fighting now the auto bots will win by performing socially proactive deeds like helping old ladies to cross the street. At least that's what it sounds like to me, honestly I think they very much ruined it, at least the other recent series were still for mature kids, I guess the fact that the movie is targeted towards older audiences say 14~30 completely slipped the mind of what ever nimrod came up with this one. I bet it tanks and hard, and then I bet they knock it on the IP saying it's just worn out and not viable any more, instead of admitting they made a mistake by trying to target the Barney crowd.

And at a second glance, you can see they have already changed Optimus!
Look at this picture again:
http://aycu02.webshots.com/image/185...2488809_rs.jpg
You can see that the 5 cars on the bottom match the fix transformers on top. Well, look at optimus - they made him some sort of rescue vehicle, instead of a Semi......

In fact, they ALL have some sort of police-style lights on em.....

Oh man.. this WILL be bad...

it's a modern day transformers aimed at kids. Which basically means it's been stripped of everything that made it so great.

Yes "WE" think its crap cos we (or some of us) were brought up as kids with the original toys. I'm sure the current generation of kids will love these and think ours were retarded and basic.

Same with Star Wars, this generation thought the originals were boring but loved the new ones and all the effects yet we all hated (Ep 3 wasnt bad) the new ones but have a place in our hearts for the originals (obviously not everyone liked em though but u see what I mean).

Just because "us oldies" dont like em, doesnt mean they will fail, kids today dont give two f***'s about the 80's line of toys.

Masters Of The Universe is in development apparently and slated for 2009, that mean it'll fail because Dolph Lungren isnt in it?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have changed more times than enough since they first came out, their still as popular as ever as each new generation embraces them in the same way as the generation did before them.

Stop being so nostalgic, they're not messing up ur history they're just giving kids something to play with as these toys were successful so have all the chance of being successful again.

Oh if you have seen Transformers: Armada, Energon and whatever the third one is then you would have realized the cartoon has been RUINED for a long time.
